Greig named DUB Player of the Week

Wheat Kings’ captain Ridly Greig was named DUB player of the week after picking up eight points (2G-6A) in four road games, all victories.  The Lethbridge, AB product’s two goals this week were also game-winners. The Ottawa Senators prospect was also named the first star in three of the contests. So far this season, Greig has played 32 games where he has notched 50 points (23G-27A).

In 176 career games, all with the Wheat Kings, he has 178 points (73G-105A).

Tetachuk named DUB Goaltender of the Week

Overage goalie Carl Tetachuk was named the DUB Goalie of the Week after going 1-0-0-1 in his two appearances with the Warriors, both road games. His sparkling 0.96 goals-against average and .966 save percentage to go with one shutout earned him the honors.

Tetachuk, acquired by the Warriors in June of 2021, has done really well for the Warriors going 22-10-5 in 39 appearances with a 2.81 GAA and .914 SV%. In his DUB career so far, he has played 134 games going 72-38-16 with a 2.98 GAA, a .905 SV%, and six shoutouts.

Guhle recalled by Ducks

24-year-old defenseman Brendan Guhle (Prince Albert, Prince George 2013-17) was recalled by the Anaheim Ducks from the San Diego Gulls (AHL). He has spent time with both teams, the majority with the Gulls, this season. In two games with the Ducks, he has been held off of the scoresheet. With the Gulls, he has suited up for 28 contests where he has five points (2G-3A).

The Edmonton, AB product played the majority of his DUB career with the Raiders before a trade to the Cougars for the last stretch of his career. In 233 career games, he notched 103 points (30G-73A).

Kneen reassigned to Allen

Nolan Kneen (Kamloops, Saskatoon 2014-20) was released by the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL after joining the club on January 15, 2022, and will return to the Allen Americans. The 22-year-old defender played 14 games with the Checkers where he notched six points (1G-5A). Before his professional tryout, he was with the Allen Americans of the ECHL where he had nine points in 15 games (three goals, six assists).

In 310 WHL games with the Blazers and Blades, the Kelowna, BC product had 139 points on 28 goals and 111 assists.

Flodell traded to Reading

Logan Flodell (Seattle, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Lethbridge 2013-18) is on the move again after being traded to the Reading Royals from the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL.

Flodell joined the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL on December 29, 2021, from Acadia University (USports) had signed a professional tryout with the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL on January 17, but was released from that tryout on February 10.

With Acadia, Flodell played 14 games going 4-9-0 with a 3.97 GAA and a .890 SV%. With the Stingrays he has played six games, going 1-4-0 with a 3.05 GAA and .886 SV% and 1 shutout. With Henderson, he never got any game action.

The Regina, SK product played 161 games over his WHL career going 86-53-13 with a 2.92 GAA, .908 SV%, and nine shutouts.

Pederson clears waivers, sent to Barracuda

One day after being placed on waivers, Lane Pederson (Seattle, Red Deer, Swift Current 2013-17) was reassigned to the Sharks AHL club the Barracuda. The 24-year-old forward was acquired by the Sharks in July 2021 and promptly signed a two-year deal with the Sharks. He has a pair of assists in 26 games with the Sharks this season.

The Saskatoon, SK product found a home with the Broncos after starting with the Thunderbirds before heading to the Rebels before playing the last half of his career with the Broncos. He had collected 140 points (53G-87A) in 199 games with 99 (39G-60A in 99 games) of them with the Broncos.

Kastelic recalled to Ottawa, Heatherington sent to Belleville

Mark Kastelic (Calgary 2015-20) and Dillon Heatherington (Swift Current 2010-15) switched places with the Senators as Kastelic was recalled by Ottawa, and Heatherington was reassigned to Belleville. The players had their roles reversed on February 16.

22-year-old Kastelic has played eight games with Ottawa where he has an assist. In 37 games with Belleville, he has 15 points (8G-7A).

He played his full DUB career with the Hitmen where he skated in 321 games collecting 235 points (126G-109A).

Heatherington has played nine games with the Ottawa version of the Senators, he was held off the scoresheet but collected seven penalty minutes. In Belville, he has nine points (2G-7A) in 21 games.

The Calgary product played his DUB career with the Broncos where he was more known for his defense, he suited up for 247 games collecting 87 points (13G-74A).
