Lazaruk calls 2,000th DUB game

The voice of the Saskatoon Blades, Les Lazaruk (@Bladesvoice) called his 2,000th Western Hockey League game in a 5-4 Blades win over the Regina Pats.

DUB First

Edwards picks up DUB goal number 1

17-year-old Brayden Edwards of the Lethbridge Hurricanes notched his first career DUB goal 13 seconds into a 5-2 win over the visiting Swift Current Broncos. Edwards was acquired on January 17th from the Winnipeg ICE.

The rookie right-winger from Abbotsford, BC was playing ins his 17th career DUB game (sixth with Lethbridge) where he has accumulated five points (1G-4A).

Korczak makes NHL debut

Kaedan Korczak (Kelowna 2016-21) made his NHL debut with the Vegas Golden Knights wearing #6. In 16:37 of ice time, the Yorkton, SK-born defenseman had one blocked shot and went +1. With the Henderson Silver Knights, the just recently turned 21-year-old has played 13 games collecting two points (1G-1A). He was then returned to the Henderson Silver Knights.

Playing his entire DUB career with the Rockets, Korczak played 214 games notching 106 points (21G, 85A).

Korczak, Thompson, and Pachal reassigned to Henderson

Kaedan Korczak (Kelowna 2016-21), Logan Thompson, and Brayden Pachal (Victoria, Prince Albert 2015-19) were reassigned to the Henderson Silver Knights from the Vegas Golden Knights.

Fresh off of signing a three-year extension with the Golden Knights, Thompson was reassigned to the Silver Knights. The 24-year-old goalie from Calgary has played a majority of the 2021-22 season with the Golden Knights AHL affiliate in Henderson where he has played 21 games going 11-7-4 with a 2.62 GAA and .928 SV% with a pair of shutouts. In his lone appearance with Vegas, he is 0-1-0 with a 3.23 GAA and .885 SV%

He played his entire DUB career with the Wheat Kings going 63-41-10 in 122 games where he had a 3.26 GAA, .905 SV%, and 4 shutouts for the Manitoba club.

Pachal who was named Henderson’s captain and had been recalled to Vegas (no games) has played 33 games with the Silver Knights where he has six points (1G-5A).

Over his four-year WHL tenure, Pachal who started with the Royals played the last two-and-a-half seasons with the Raiders where he wore the β€œC” in his final season in a Memorial Cup appearance. In 239 WHL games, Pachal had 98 points (26-G-72A).

Reichel reassigned to Moose

Kristian Reichel (Red Deer 2017-18) has been reassigned to the Manitoba Moose from the Winnipeg Jets. The 23-year-old, four-year pro forward had a goal in five games with the Jets. In 25 games with the AHL’s Moose, he had five goals and seven assists.

In his lone DUB career, Reichel scored 34 times and assisted on 23 others in 63 games for the Rebels.

Petryk joins Ringerike

Reid Petryk (Medicine Hat, Everett, Edmonton 2009-14) has joined the Ringerike Panthers in Norway. The 29-year-old forward did not play last season and was limited to 15 games in 2019-20 due to injuries. He had surgery and is now fully rehabbed. In 2019-20 with Frisk Asker (also in Norway), he had eight points (6G-2A) in 15 games.

The Edmonton product played five seasons in the DUB where he skated in 321 games starting with the Tigers before moving onto the Silvertips. He then played for his hometown Oil Kings as an overage winning the 2014 Memorial Cup. He had 65 goals and 95 assists in his career.

Lees returned to Nailers

Jesse Lees (Kelowna, Prince Albert 2010-16) was released from his professional try-out with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch. He will re-join the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) where he played part of the 2020-21 season. With the Crunch, the 26-year-old played 17 games picking up three assists.

The Calgary product started his DUB career with the Rockets before spending the last season and a half with the Raiders. In 294 games, the defenseman collected 162 points (55G-107A).

Elmer assigned to Jacksonville

Jake Elmer (Regina, Kootenay, Lethbridge 2014-19 has spent time with both the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) and Jacksonville Icemen (ECHL) this season, has been reassigned to the Icemen. With the Wolf Pack, Elmer has one assist in 10 games. With the ECHL club, he has 14 points (10G-4A) in 23 games.

Elmer started his DUB career with the Pats before being moved to the Ice before ending his career playing his best two seasons both with the Hurricanes. He had 134 points (64G-70A) in 204 games, 118 points in his last two seasons.

Patera assigned to Komets

Jiri Patera (Brandon 2018-20) was assigned by the Henderson Silver Knights to the ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets. Patera has spent time with both clubs in 2021-22. With Henderson, he has played in 8 games where he went 5-3-0 with a 2.43 goals against average and .923 save percentage. With Fort Wayne, the Praha, CZ product has played in 10 games going 5-4-1 with a 2.69 GAA and .910 SV%.

In his two DUB seasons with the Wheat Kings, he got into 89 games going 46-32-9 with a 2.95 GAA and .913 SV% and six shutouts.

Thomson, Kastelic, and Reinhardt reassigned to Belleville

Lassi Thomson (Kelowna 2018-19), Mark KastelicΒ (Calgary 2015-20), and Cole ReinhardtΒ (Brandon 2016-20) (Brandon 2016-20) have been reassigned to the Belleville Senators of the AHL. The moves come as the NHL will start its pause for their All-Star game.

Thomson, a right-handed defenseman has been shuttled between the NHL and AHL Senators multiple times this season. In 16 games with the big club, Thomson has five points (5A). With the AHL Sens, he has skated in 15 games where he has eight points (5G-3A). In his single season with the Rockets, Thomson had 41 points in just 63 games, 17 of the points were goals.

Kastelic made his NHL debut on the weekend in a 2-1 loss to the visiting Anaheim Ducks. He played a trio of games and was held off the scoresheet. In 31 games with the Baby Sens, the 22-year-old has 11 points (5G-6A).

Reinhardt had been recalled to the Ottawa Senators taxi squad from the Belville Senators. In 31 games with the AHL club the Irma, AB product has 13 points (5G-8A). In four DUB seasons, Reinhardt had 141 points (75G-66A) in 252 games played, all with the Wheat Kings.

Williams signs extension with Heilbronner

Jeremy Williams (Swift Current, 2000-04) has signed a one-year contract extension with the Heilbronner Falken (DEL2). The 38-year-old is the clubs leading scorer where he has 48 points (18G-30A) in 34 games with the Falken.

The right-winger from Regina spent his DUB career with the Broncos where he collected 207 points (99G-108A) in 174 games.

Parik reassigned to Rapid City

Per the ECHL February 2 transactions, Lukas Parik (Spokane 2019-20) was reassigned to the Rapid City Rush (ECHL) from the Ontario Reign (AHL). The 20-year-old Czech goalie has played with both clubs, a majority with the Rush. In four contests with the Reign, he went 3-0-1 with a 3.50 GAA and .893 SV%. He is 9-4-3 with the Rush putting up a 2.36 GAA and .927 SV% with one shutout.

He went an impressive 22-7-2 in 32 DUB games with the Chiefs where he had a 2.73 GAA, .917 SV%, and one shutout.
