Zacharias signs with Pats, makes debut

15-year-old Raiden Zacharias signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the Regina Pats. The 75th overall selection in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft has been playing with his hometown Saskatoon Blazers where he has 52 points (14G-38A) in 40 games for the SMAAAHL club.

Zacharias made his debut and played sparingly in a 6-3 Pat loss to the Oil Kings.

Mayo extends with Coyotes

Dysin Mayo (Edmonton 2012-16) signed a three-year contract extension with the Arizona Coyotes that will keep the 25-year-old with the Yotes through the 2024-25 season. After toiling in the Coyotes farm system for his first five professional seasons, Mayo made his NHL debut this season. In 42 games with the Coyotes, he has six points (3G-3A). He also suited up for the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL) where he played two games with no points.

The four-year DUB defenseman played 248 games with the Oil Kings where he picked up 134 points (28G-106A). He was also a member of the 2014 Memorial Cup Champion Edmonton Oil Kings.

McLennan named celebrity coach for the 2022 CHL Top Prospects game

Jamie McLennan (Spokane, Lethbridge 1988-91) was named as a celebrity coach for the 2022 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. McLennan is now part of the OverDrive on TSN  1050 radio. McLennan started his DUB career with the Chiefs before a move to the Hurricanes where his play would get him by the New York Islanders in the third round 48th overall in 1991. In 11 NHL seasons, McLennan went 80-109-36 in 245 games with a 2.68 goals-against average, .898 save percentage, and 13 shutouts. He played 108 games in the DUB, 11 with the Chiefs, and 97 with the Hurricanes (no stats, as they are incomplete).

Leschyshyn recalled by Golden Knights

Jake Leschyshyn (Regina, Lethbridge 2014-19) was recalled by the Vegas Golden Knights from the Henderson Silver Knights. He has spent time with both clubs this season where he has played 20 games with Vegas where he has four points (1G-3A). With Henderson, he has played 30 games and has 24 points (12G-12A).

Leason reassigned to the Bears

Brett Leason (Tri-City, Prince Albert 2015-19) was reassigned to the Hershey Bears by the Washington Capitals, a move that has happened multiple times this season. In 35 games with the Caps, he has six points (3G-3A) and in six games with the Bears, he has a goal.

The Calgary-born forward played for the Americans and Raiders where he came into his own late in his career. In 190 DUB games, he had 140 points (60G-80A).

Kastelic returned to Belleville

In what seems to be a fairly regular move, Mark Kastelic (Calgary 2015-20) was reassigned to the Belleville Senators by the Ottawa Senators.

The 22-year-old Kastelic has played nine games with Ottawa where he has an assist. In 38 games with Belleville, he has 15 points (8G-7A) to go with 55 penalty minutes.
