Lethbridge Hurricanes 2019-20 schedule highlights

Wednesday morning across the WHL teams announced and released their upcoming schedule for 2019-20 season, The Lethbridge Hurricanes were no different. The 68 game season will see 34 home and road games.

The season kicks off like it does every season as the Hurricanes and Medicine Hat Tigers will play a home-and-home series, starting Friday, September 20th in Lethbridge and the following night Saturday,  September 21st in Medicine Hat.

The Hurricanes will welcome the defending champion Prince Albert Raiders for the first time Nov 22nd.

All five US based teams will make the trek through Lethbridge this season as they do every other season. Those games are scheduled as follows:

vs Portland Friday, October 4th

vs Tri-City Saturday, November 9th

vs Everett Wednesday, December 4th

vs Seattle Friday, January 3rd

vs Spokane Wednesday, February 19th

The Hurricanes will have their longest road trip of the season, a seven game swing that begins in Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 18th, 2020. That trip will see them make stops in Moose Jaw, Regina, Brandon, Prince Albert, Saskatoon before finishing it off in Red Deer against the Rebels on Wednesday, February 5th, 2020.

On the flip side, the team’s longest homestand is only three games long in early November. A very balanced schedule this season for the Hurricanes.

The WHL’s newest team, the relocated Winnipeg Ice will make their first trip to Lethbridge on Valentine’s day, February 14th, 2020. While they will make the first trek into Winnipeg for two games back to back on October 30th and November 1st.

The Hurricanes only make one trip this season to the west coast to visit the Victoria Royals and the defending Western Conference champion Vancouver Giants, November 15th and 17th respectively.

The season will close just how it opened with a Hurricanes and Tigers home-and-home series. Lethbridge will play host the final Friday of the season March 20th and Medicine Hat will host the season finale Saturday, March 21st.
