WHL names divisional All-Star Teams

On Monday the Western Hockey League announced their All-Star Teams for the 2020-21 season. Due to the pandemic, the league decided to go with an all-star team for each division. Vancouver, Everett, and Edmonton each had four players recognized with the honour. DUBNetwork completed their all-star team rosters based on the entire league HERE on May 21.

WHL announces complex draft lottery

With the entire 2020-21 season being played under the COVID-19 restrictions of several different health jurisdictions as well as the schedule being unbalanced, the league announced a complex arrangement for the drafting of the league’s future stars. The Draft Lottery itself will be held on Wednesday, June 2. The 2021 WHL Prospects Draft will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021.

The WHL also announced on Monday that they will announce the results of the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft Lottery on Thursday, June 3 at 10 a.m. MT. The league will also release further details on the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft Lottery on Tuesday, June 1.

Cerveny signs with Dinamo Riga

Forward Rudolf Cerveny (116GP, 16G, 24A with Regina ’07-’09) has signed with Dinamo Riga of the KHL. Last season Cerveny played in Liiga with Pelicans, scoring 21 goals and adding 17 assists through 56 games. He also added three goals and one assist in five playoff games. Cerveny was the 37th overall pick at the CHL Import Draft in 2007.

Weise signs with IK Oskarshamn

Forward Dale Weise (173GP, 51G, 61A with Swift Current ’05-’08) has signed with IK Oskarshamn of the SHL. the 32-year-old Winnipeg, MB native did not play in 2020-21. When he last played he split the season between the Montreal Canadiens (23GP, 1G, 4A) and the Laval Rocket (27GP, 3G, 4A). Weise was a 2008 fourth-round pick of the New York Rangers.

Langkow arrives with Fehervar AV

Forward Chris Langkow (263GP, 53G, 101A with Spokane, Saskatoon, and Everett ’05-’10) has signed with Fehervar AV19 of ICEHL in Hungary. Langkow did not play in 2020-21 and last played with MAC Ujbuda of Slovakia. In 2019-20, Langkow scored 23 goals and added 17 assists in 40 games.
