With 16-year-old backup goalie Blake Lyda still on the shelf for at least another month, the Everett Silvertips decided to bring in some help in the form of 18-year-old netminder Max Palaga. They traded a sixth-round pick in 2020 for Palaga.
The 2000-born Palaga played one game in 2016-17 and 17 games in 2017-18 for the Blazers but was pushed out of the rotation by the duo of Dylan Ferguson and 16-year-old Dylan Garand.
Palaga started out 2018-19 with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL, where he posted a 1.77 GAA and 0.943 save percentage.
He joins the Silvertips as they return home from an East Division trip that saw them go 4-2.
2001-born goalie Danton Belluk, who was the backup to Dustin Wolf for the last couple of weeks, did not play in any games. He posted a 6.03 GAA and 0.714 save percentage last year in two outings. He has since been reassigned to the Eastman Selects of the MMHL.
Rasmussen not coming back
Blashill says Michael Rasmussen has been told he’s staying. Plays his 10th NHL game Tuesday.

The Tri-City Americans may just have to go without their biggest name this year in 1999-born center Michael Rasmussen. The former first-round NHL draft pick will get into his 10th NHL game later today, meaning that the first year of his entry-level contract will kick in.
That makes it unlikely that the Detroit Red Wings will return Rasmussen anytime soon. He has one assist in nine games this year. For the Americans last year he notched 31 goals and 28 assists for 59 points in 47 games.
Without him this year, Tri-City is 9-4 in their first 13 games. Overage forward Nolan Yaremko is captain in his absence.
