Blazers Weekend Wrap Up: Royals game postponed, win over the Thunderbirds

Due to the BC flood situation, The Blazers game against the Victoria Royals on Friday has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 16 at 7:00.

The Blazers are encouraging season ticket holders for Friday’s game to keep them. They can be used for the 16th or any other regular-season game.

The schedule change also means that the night to honor late President Don Moores has also been moved to Saturday, December 4.

The Blazers were able to play on Saturday in Seattle. The Blazers scored two in the first period and two more in the second, en route to a 5-1 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds. Matthew Seminoff had a hat trick. Logan Stankoven had three assists. Daylan Kuefler scored the game-winning goal. Reese Belton added a goal in the third.

Seminoff now has 10 goals, 14 assists, for 24 points on the season. He’s third on the team in scoring and seventh in WHL scoring. Logan Stankoven is fifth in league scoring with 26 points. Josh Pillar is sixth with 25 points.

Jared Davidson broke Dylan Garand’s shutout with a goal at the 18:25 mark of the third period. Garand made 29 saves for his 12th win of the season.

Thomas Milic went for most of the game for the Thunderbirds. He allowed all five goals in the game to take the loss. Scott Ratzlaff mopped up playing the last 6:19 of the game.

The Blazers are now 14-2-0-0 on the season. That is good for second place in the Western Conference. Only the CHL’s number 2 ranked team the Everett Silvertips are ahead of them.

The Thunderbirds fall to 11-5-1-0. After their 5-2 loss to the Silvertips on Sunday, the Thunderbirds are fell eight points behind the Silvertips, who leads the US Division. The Blazers and the Thunderbirds meet in Seattle on Wednesday.
