Winnipeg ICE Acquire Jack Finley From Spokane Chiefs

The Winnipeg ICE have acquired forward Jack Finley and a seventh-round pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for forwards Chase Bertholet, James Form, and a second-round pick in 2024.

Finley, who was named Captain of the Chiefs this season, has 16 points (eight goals and eight assists) in 21 games. In 152 WHL games over the past four seasons, the Kelowna, B.C. product has 93 points (36 goals and 57 assists), is +22, and 124 penalty minutes. Finley was taken sixth overall by Spokane back in the 2017 WHL Draft.

The 6’6”, 223 pound forward is one of 21 forwards named to the roster of Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp.  He represented Canada at the 2018-2019 Under 17 World Hockey Championship, registering two assists in five games.

Bertholet has played 52 games with the Winnipeg ICE over the past three seasons, gathering ten goals and 16 assists in his time in the Manitoba Capital. Form has been with the ICE since their time in Kootenay; in 72 WHL games, the Saskatoon local snagged nine goals and bagged five helpers.

“I would like to thank Chase and James for their dedication to the ICE franchise both on and off the ice.  Both players are tremendous people and we wish them all the best.” said President, General Manager & Alternate Governor Matt Cockell.  “We look forward to welcoming Jack to Winnipeg, he will be an important part of our team moving forward.”

The Tampa Bay Lightning selected Finley in the second round, 57th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.  He signed a three-year entry level contract with the Lightning on December 12, 2020.
