Korczak scores first professional goal

Defenseman Kaedan Korczak (214GP, 21G, 85A with Kelowna) scored his first professional goal on Saturday night as the Henderson Silver Knights lost 3-2 to the Bakersfield Condors. His goal came at 5:40 of the third period and tied the game at two. Korczak was a second-round pick of the Vegas Golden Knights in 2019.

Ewanyk signs with Roosters

Forward Travis Ewanyk (185GP, 36G, 33A with Edmonton ’08-’13) has signed with the Iserlohn Roosters of the DEL in Germany. Last season Ewanyk played for the Eispiraten Crimmitschau of the DEL2 league. He scored 18 goals and added 15 assists in 41 games. The Edmonton Oilers selected Ewanyk in the third round of the 2011 NHL Draft.

Smith signs with Sodertalje SK

Forward Colin Smith (272GP, 102G, 169A with Kamloops ’08-’13) has signed with Sodertalje SK of HockeyAllsvenskan of Sweden. Last season Smith played for Vasby IK in the same league, scoring eight times and adding 27 assists in 28 regular-season games. He also added one goal and three assists in five relegation round games. Smith was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in 2012 in the seventh round and played one game for the team in the 2014-15 season.

Podkolzin signs with Canucks

Forward Vasili Podkolzin has signed an entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks. The 19-year-old Podkolzin was selected 92nd overall by the Medicine Hat Tigers at the 2018 CHL Import Draft. He chose to stay in his native Russia and play for St. Petersburg’s teams in the MHL, VHL, and KHL. He will turn 20 years old before the beginning of the 2021-22 season, therefore it is unlikely he will play in the WHL.

Winterhawks Assistant Athletic Trainer heads to NFL

Trevor Hunt, Portland Winterhawks Assistant Athletic Trainer, has earned a position with the Las Vegas Raiders of the NFL.
