DUB’s Daily Dose: Chiasson makes season debut, O’Connor reaches milestone, Chaulk signs with Blaze, and more!

 

Chiasson makes 2021-22 debut

After missing the first 48 games of the season due to injury, 18-year-old Jake Chiasson made his season debut against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night. He picked up his first point of the season 9:22 into the game and scored his first goal of the campaign at 19:02 in the Wheat Kings 6-3 win.

O’Connor hits milestone

Vancouver Giants play-by-play broadcaster Dan O’Connor called his 700th DUB game on Friday night in a 4-3 OT loss to the Kamloops Blazers.

Leschyshyn recalled by Vegas (again)

What seems to be an ever-occurring move, Jake Leschyshyn (Regina, Lethbridge 2014-19) has been recalled by the Vegas Golden Knights from the Henderson Silver Knights. He has spent time with both clubs this season where he has played 20 games with Vegas where he has four points (1G-3A). With Henderson, he has played 31 games and has 24 points (12G-12A).

The five-year DUB forward played 257 games (mostly with the Pats before finishing with the Hurricanes) where he collected 180 points (85G-95A).

Patera recalled by Henderson

Jiri Patera (Brandon 2018-20) was recalled from the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL by the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights. He has split his time with both clubs in 2021-22. With Henderson, he has played in 12 games where he went 6-6-0 with a 2.73 GAA and .913 save percentage. With Fort Wayne, the Praha, CZ product has played in 15 games going 7-5-3 with a 2.77 GAA and .906 SV%.

In his two DUB seasons, both with the Wheat Kings, Patera got into 89 games going 46-32-9 with a 2.95 GAA, .913 SV%, and six shutouts.

Chaulk joins Blaze

Fresh of being named to Canada West’s Second All-Star Team, 24-year-old Conner Chaulk (Swift Current, Calgary 2015-18) has joined the Coventry Blaze in England’s EIHL. The Regina, SK product just finished his season with the University of Regina where he had 17 points (9G-8A) in 17 games.

In his three DUB seasons, Chaulk played 176 games (all but 35 with the Broncos) where he picked up 58 points (27G-31A).
