Nolan Ritchie scored twice (16th and 17th) including the overtime winner as the Brandon Wheat Kings topped the Calgary Hitmen 3-2 in OT before 3,589 fans at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. Mason Ward opened the scoring halfway through the first period with his third of the season for the Wheat Kings. Cael Zimmerman (ninth) and Zac Funk (11th) replied for the Hitmen. The Hitmen outshot the Wheat Kings 45-31 in the contest.
Sixteen-year-old Carson Bjarnason stopped 43 of 45 Hitmen shots to pick up his sixth win of the season for the Wheat Kings. Ethan Buenaventura made 28 saves and fell to 1-0-3-1 on the season for the Hitmen with the overtime loss. Box score.

Ryan Hofer scored a hat-trick (14th, 15th, and 16th of the season) as the Silvertips beat the Americans 6-3 before 4,893 fans at the Angel Of The Winds Arena in Everett. Hunter Campbell (13th), Jacob Wright (13th), and Ty Gibson (first of the season) rounded out the scoring for the Silvertips. Connor Bouchard (fifth), Ethan Ernst (eighth), and Tyson Greenway (seventh) replied for the Americans.
Braden Holt made 30 saves for the Silvertips to move to 15-4-2-1 on the season. Tomas Suchanek fell to 5-6-2-0 stopping 35 of 41 shots he faced. Box score.

Five different players scored as the Red Deer Rebels beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2 at Co-op Place. Ben King paced the way for the Rebels with a three-point outing (24th goal of the season to go with two assists). Hunter Mayo (first career goal), Liam Keeler (11th), Christoffer Sedoff, and Arshdeep Bains rounded out the scoring for the Rebels who outshot the Tigers 41-21 in the game. Teague Patton (sixth) and Brendan Lee (seventh) replied for the Tigers.
Connor Ungar made 19 saves to move to 12-3-1-0 in net for the Rebels. Garin Bjorklund got the start for the Tigers but was lifted 10:32 into the game after allowing three goals on seven shots. Beckett Langkow stopped 32 or 34 in 49:28 in relief. Box score.

The Hurricanes took a 4-2 lead early in the third period only to have the Oil Kings tie the game up in front of 2,254 fans at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge. Edmonton scored a pair of markers just over a minute apart in the latter stages of the third period to send it to overtime. The extra frame settled nothing so a shutout was needed. Edmonton outscored the Hurricanes 2-0 in the shootout to win the game 5-4.
Four different Oil Kings scored in regulation in the win: Jake Neighbours (seventh), Carter Kowalyk (first career), Dylan Guenther (20th), and Cole Miller (second). Overage forwards Justin Hall scored a hat-trick (16th, 17th, and 18th) and Logan Barlage (seventh) replied for the Hurricanes. Guenther and Neighbours were the only two players to find the net in the shootout for the winners.
Sebastian Cossa made 25 saves in 65 minutes of work in regulation and did not allow either Hurricane to score in the shootout. He also stopped a Ty Nash penalty shot in the second period. Bryan Thomson stopped 27 shots in the 65 minutes and only one of three shooters he faced in the shootout. Box score.

After falling behind 2-0 to the Blazers after the first period, the Winterhawks scored the final five goals in a 5-2 win. Four different players scored for the Winterhawks in a game played in front of 1,802 fans at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.
Aidan Litke (ninth and 10th), Luca Cagnoni (fifth), Clay Hanus (eighth), and James Stefan (18th) scored for the Winterhawks. Daylan Kuefler (16th) and Logan Stankoven (17th) scored the Blazers’ goals.
Overage netminder Taylor Gauthier moved to 3-0-0-0 with the Winterhawks, making 25 saves in the process. Dylan Garand made 29 saves on 33 shots for Kamloops in the loss. Box score.

Oil Kings sixteen-year-old defenseman Carter Kowalyk notched his first WHL goal in a 5-4 shootout win over the Hurricanes. The St. Albert, AB product scored his first goal in his 10th game with the Oil Kings.
Mayo snipes for the first time
Seventeen-year-old Hunter Mayo opened for the Red Deer Rebels in a 5-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen. The goal was the Saskatoon, SK products’ first career WHL marker. The 6’1″, 200 lb. defenseman scored in his 40th career game with the Rebels.

Brad Lambert, the Saskatoon Blades first-round CHL Import pick in 2020 has requested and received his release from Finland’s JYP club. Over parts of three seasons in the Liiga, the highly touted 2022 NHL Draft prospect has 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 74 games.
UPDATE: Lambert has joined the Lahti Pelicans (Liiga).

Kaid Oliver (Victoria, Edmonton 2016-21) was recalled from the Iowa Heartlanders to the AHL’s Iowa Wild. The 21-year-old forward has 22 points (four goals, 18 assists) in 33 games with the Heartlanders as a rookie professional.
The White Rock, BC product played 257 WHL games mostly with the Royals before spending the 2020-21 shortened season with the Oil Kings. He collected 153 points (68 goals, 85 assists) in his five seasons in the ‘Dub.

Trent Miner (Vancouver 2017-21) was reassigned by the AHL’s Colorado Eagles to the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. With the Eagles, Miner has played in three games going 1-2-0 with a 3.09 goals against average and .864 save percentage. With the Grizzlies, the Souris, MB product has a 7-4-0 with a 2.13 GAA and .930 SV%.
In his four-year WHL career, the 20-year-old netminder went 48-28-5 with a 2.49 GAA and .910 SV% with the Giants.
