Makaj leaves ICE

According to Winnipeg Free Press reporter Mike Sawatzky, goaltender Jesse Makaj has left the Winnipeg ICE organization for personal reasons. In 20 games this season, he posted a 3.84 GAA, .864 Save Percentage and 10-10-0-0 record. He had only suited up four times in the last two months as the ICE brought in overage netminder Liam Hughes.

Winterhawks sign Tallman

The Portland Winterhawks have signed 2018 eighth-round pick Brody Tallman to a WHL Education Contract. Our Josh Critzer has the full story here.

Silvertips sign Hunchak

The Everett Silvertips have signed listed prospect Brendan Hunchak to a WHL Education Contract. The seventeen-year-old forward is playing with the BCMML’s Thompson Blazers where he has five goals and 11 assists in 32 games this year. Hunchak is the son of former WHL Coach Dave Hunchak who recently appeared on the WHLUnfiltered Podcast.

ICE recall Raeside from Blues

The Winnipeg ICE have recalled Rhys Raeside from the MJHL’s Winnipeg Blues. The 2003-born forward has played five games with the ICE this season and has been held pointless.

Pats recall Weigel from Blazers

The Regina Pats recalled defenseman Daylan Weigel from the SMHL’s Saskatoon Blazers. In 35 games in the SMHL this season, Weigel has four goals and 18 assists.

Englot returns to Pats, Wytinck still out with illness

Drew Englot has returned to the Regina Pats lineup after missing the last six games with appendicitis while Zach Wytinck was still sidelined by an illness despite being listed on the weekly report as returning from illness.

Sanders returns to Blades

Defenseman Matt Sanders was back in the lineup for the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday after being out since January 11th with a lower-body injury.

Kisio sits atop Hurricanes all-time wins list

With a 7-6 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday, Brent Kisio earned his 188th win as Lethbridge Hurricanes head coach putting him in a tie with Bryan Maxwell who coached the squad from 1995-2003. Kisio will look to break the record on Saturday against Prince Albert.

In the latest edition of the CHL Top 10, the Portland Winterhawks have fallen to the third spot and the Kamloops Blazers have fallen to the 10th spot. Edmonton (#5), Everett (#7) and Lethbridge (HM) did not see any movement in the rankings.
