Reinhart moved from Buffalo to the Florida Panthers

Forward Sam Reinhart (120 goals and 199 assists in 250 games with Kootenay from 2011-15) was traded from the Buffalo Sabres to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a first-round draft pick in the 2022 NHL Draft and Devon Levi.

Reinhart, 25, notched 134 goals and 295 points in 454 games with the Sabres over the last seven seasons. He was the second overall pick by Buffalo in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Khaira to become an unrestricted free agent

Forward Jujhar Khaira (16 goals, 27 assists in 59 games with Everett in 2013-14) won’t receive a qualifying offer from the Edmonton Oilers and is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 28.

The 26-year-old from Surrey, BC has played parts of six seasons in Edmonton, compiling 24 goals and 63 points in 258 games.

Ehrhardt inks an extension with Manchester

Defenseman Dallas Ehrhardt (11 goals, 58 assists in 209 games with Brandon, Moose Jaw, and Prince George from 2009-13) has signed an extension with the Manchester Storm of the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League for the 2021-22 season.

The 28-year-old from Calgary, AB is entering his sixth season in Manchester, the last two as captain. In 205 career EIHL games with the Storm, Ehrhardt has 35 goals and 104 points.

Jones traded from Columbus to Chicago

Forward Radel Fazleyev (42 goals, 105 assists in 168 games with Calgary from 2013-16) has signed an extension with Neftyanik Almetievsk of Vysshaya Hokkeinaya Liga for 2021-22, which is the second tier pro league in Russia.

Fazleyev, 25, had eight goals and 19 points in 40 games with Neftyanik Almetievsk in 2020-21. The product of Kazan, RUS has spent most of the last three seasons in the VHL.

Virtanen waived by the Canucks en route to buyout

Forward Jake Virtanen (85 goals, 76 assists in 192 games with Calgary from 2012-15) was placed on unconditional waivers by the Vancouver Canucks for the purposes of a buyout.

Virtanen, a 24-year-old from New Westminster, BC, had 55 goals and 100 points in 317 games with the Canucks over the last six seasons.

He’s been on leave from Vancouver since May 1 after being accused in a lawsuit of sexually assaulting a woman in 2017.

Joe makes the jump from the VHL to the KHL

Defenseman Colin Joe (seven goals, 48 assists in 314 games with Kelowna and Saskatoon from 2004-09) signed with the Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League for 2021-22.

Joe, 33, played 105 games with KRS-BSU Beijing of the VHL from 2018-20 and put up seven goals and 43 points. He didn’t play anywhere of note in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Burke and Steenbergen acquired by Los Angeles from Arizona

Forwards Brayden Burke (85 goals, 253 assists in 238 games with Red Deer, Lethbridge, and Moose Jaw from 2014-18) and Tyler Steenbergen (123 goals and 126 assists in 267 games with Swift Current from 2014-18) were traded from the Arizona Coyotes to the Los Angeles Kings for Cole Hults and Boko Imama on Saturday.

Burke, a 24-year-old from Edmonton, AB, has posted 99 points in 146 games with the Tucson Roadrunners of the American Hockey League over the last three seasons.

Steenbergen, 23, hails from Sylvan Lake, AB, and put up 61 points in 156 games with the Roadrunners from 2018 to this past season.

Hlinka signs with Vlci Zilina for 2021-22

Forward Michal Hlinka (eight goals, 16 assists in 91 games with Moose Jaw and Prince Albert from 2010-12) signed with Vlci Zilina of Slovenská hokejová liga, which is the second tier of pro hockey in Slovakia.

The 28-year-old product of Trencin, SVK has bounced between Slovenská hokejová liga, Tipos Extraliga, and the KHL over the last decade. He had no points in eight games with HK Dukla Trencin in 2020-21.
