Daily Dose of the DUB: Cossa flies with the Red Wings, Rebels part ways with Fancy, Krane heads to the U of Regina, and more!

Cossa signs with the Red Wings

2002-born goaltender Sebastian Cossa has signed an entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings that runs through the 2023-24 season at $925,000 per season. Cossa, a product of Hamilton, ON, was selected by the Wings in the first round, 15th overall, in last month’s NHL Draft.

Cossa finished the 2020-21 season with a 17-1-1 record and was named DUBNetwork top goaltender and to the DUBNetwork first all-star team. He also had a minuscule 1.57 goals-against-average, a .941 save percentage, and four shutouts to push his career total to eight.

Rebels place Fancy on waivers

The Red Deer Rebels have placed 2001-born goaltender Byron Fancy on Western Hockey League waivers. The product of Claresholm, AB was 18-29-6 in 67 games with the Rebels over the last five seasons. He has a 3.90 goals-against-average and an .874 save percentage during his WHL career.

Krane commits to the University of Regina

Moose Jaw Warriors forward Riley Kane has committed to the University of Regina Cougars for the 2021-22 U SPORTS season. The 2000-born forward from Dawson Creek, BC notched 34 goals and 69 points in 153 games with the Warriors and Regina over the last four seasons.

McMillan takes his game to Löwen Frankfurt

32-year-old forward Carson McMillan (57 goals, 84 assists in 271 games with Calgary from 2005-09) has signed a deal with Löwen Frankfurt of the DEL2 for the upcoming season. The native of Brandon, MB spent the last three seasons with the Fischtown Penguins of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

In 132 games with the Penguins, McMillan scored 19 goals and added 28 assists. He played two seasons with Esbjerg Energy in the Danish League from 2016-18 before joining Fischtown in April 2018.

Anderson commits to Ontario Tech University

Forward Baxter Anderson (13 goals, 14 assists in 172 games with Medicine Hat from 2016-20) has committed to Ontario Tech University for the 2021-22 U SPORTS season. Anderson joined the Nanaimo Clippers for the 2020-21 BCHL pod season and posted a goal and eight points in 19 games.
