Nachbaur heads to Stockton

The AHL’s Stockton Hear announced that they have added Don Nachbaur to their coaching staff for the 2021-22 season. Nachbaur, 62, played two seasons with the Billings Bighorns where he scored 67 goals and added 79 assists in 137 games.

Nachbaur has since played 223 NHL games after being selected in the third round of the 1979 NHL Draft by the Hartford Whalers. Following his retirement, Nachbaur joined the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds as a head coach beginning in 1994-95. Most recently, Nachbaur was the Head Coach of SC Bern of the NL in Switzerland and then an associate coach with the Tri-City Americans. Joining the Heat will mark the second stint in the AHL for Nachbaur as he previously was an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Phantoms for two seasons (2000-02).

Hart re-signs in Philadelphia

22-year-old Sherwood Park, AB goaltender Carter Hart (190 games, 116-46-22, 2.01GAA, .927 sv% with Everett 2103-18) has re-signed with the Philadelphia Flyers for the next three seasons. The Flyers took Hart in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft. Last season Hart was 9-11-5 with a 3.67 goals-against average and a .877 save percentage through 27 games.

Mahura earns another contract with the Ducks

23-year-old St. Alberta, AB defenceman Josh Mahura (186 games, 41 goals, 90 assists with the Red Deer Rebels and Regina Pats 2014-18) has been re-signed by the Anaheim Ducks. The contract is for two years. Mahura was a third-round selection by the Ducks at the 2016 NHL Draft. In 2020-21, Mahura played 13 NHL games, scoring once and adding three assists in 13 games. He also played 28 games for the San Diego Gulls, the AHL affiliate for the Ducks. There he scored six goals and had 14 assists through 28 games.

Andrusiak signs with the Steelheads

23-year-old Yorkton, SK forward Zack Andrusiak (202 games, 80 goals, 69 assists with Tri-City, Prince Albert, Seattle, and Everett 2014-19) has signed with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.

The signing marks Andrusiak’s return to Idaho, as he played the 2019-20 season with the team. Last season Andrusiak played 22 games for the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears, scoring one goal and adding three assists.

Coulter heads to Norway

24-year-old Brandon, MB forward Tyler Coulter (262 games, 76 goals, 100 assists with the Brandon Wheat Kings 2012-17) has signed to play with Stjernen Hockey in Norway. Coulter spent the last two seasons with the ECHL’s Rapid City Rush. Last season he scored 23 goals and added 38 assists in 68 games. This will be Coulter’s second stint overseas as he played the 2018-19 season in Sweden.

Cable heads to the United Kingdom

26-year-old Hudson Bay, SK forward Levi Cable (267 games, 55 goals, 62 assists with the Kootenay ICE 2010-15) has signed with the Guildford Flames of the EIHL. Following five seasons with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, Cable played three games with the Leroy Braves of the Long Lake Hockey League, scoring three goals and adding three assists.

Skinner re-signs with Oilers

On Sunday the Edmonton Oilers announced they have re-signed goaltender Stuart Skinner (207 games, 104-72-15, 3.22GAA, .908 sv% with Lethbridge and Swift Current 2013-18) to a two-year, two-way contract. Last season, Skinner played one game with the Oilers, where he posted a win with a 5.03 goals-against average and a .868 save percentage. He also played 31 games with the team’s AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. Skinner was 20-9-2, with a 2.38 goals-against average, and a .914 save percentage. In the playoffs, Skinner was 4-2-0 with a 2.68 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage. The Oilers selected Skinner in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft. As a member of the Swift Current Broncos in 2017-18, Skinner won the Ed Chynoweth Cup.
