Blazers Hope To Remain Unbeaten This Weekend. Name New Co-Captains.

The Blazers hope to keep their winning ways going against two rivals this weekend.

Kamloops, who are 4-0 to start the season, play Friday night against the Kamloops Blazers and Saturday night against the Vancouver Giants

The Blazers swept the Victoria Royals on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, the Blazers jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Victora was able to come back, but the Blazers skated away with a 3-2 victory. In the first period, Marko Stancha scored his third and Matthew Semenoff potted his first of the campaign. In the second period, Caiden Bankler his second to make it 3-0. Bailey Peach and Wyatt Wilson scored their first of the season for the Royals to make the game close, but they could not come back and tie the game in the end.

 

The Blazers peppered 42 shots on Royals goaltender Tyler Palmer. Palmer made 39 saves. Dylan Garand, on the other end, made 16 saves for the victory for the Blazers.

On Wednesday, Caeden Bankler had five points (3G, 2A), Dylan Kuefler had two goals, and Matthew Semenoff chipped in with three assists as the Blazers stormed to an 8-3 victory over the Royals.

 

The Blazers scored six goals on Australian goaltender Sebastian Wraneschwitz despite only having 30 shots. He was replaced by Connor Martin who allowed two goals on ten shots. Dylan Ernst took the win for the Blazers making 29 saves on 32 shots.

News and Notes

Logan Stankoven and Quinn Schmiemann have been named co-captains of the Blazers. Stankoven will wear the “C” for home games. Schmiemann for road games. Caeden Bankler and Josh Pillar will wear the A for home games. While Dylan Kuefler and Matthew Seminoff will wear the A for road games. Schmiemann will make his debut this weekend for the Blazers returning from Philadelphia Flyers camp.

The Blazers also announced they acquired 18 year old G Keegan Maddocks from the Regina Pats. The Pats will receive a 8th round pick from the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. The 6’0, 176 lb Langley native is expected to play for the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL this season.

This weekend’s two games are the final two of their four game road trip. They return home to face the Vancouver Giants on Friday, October 22.
