Daily Dose of the DUB: King loaned to Trail, Lysyj resigns and more

King loaned to Trail Smoke Eaters (BCHL)

Ben King (117GP, 25G, 47A with Swift Current and Red Deer) has been loaned to the Trail Smoke Eaters. The Vernon, BC native has played two games previously in the BCHL, with the Vernon Vipers in 2017-18. King will return to Red Deer for the beginning of training camp.

Gabruch and Allen loaned to Battlefords North Stars (SJHL)

Connor Gabruch (109GP, 8G, 8A with Spokane and Calgary) and Blake Allen (127GP, 8G, 13A with Kootenay, Regina, and Calgary) have both been loaned to the Battlefords North Stars of the SJHL. Both players are expected to be returning to Calgary in time for training camp.

Silvertips and Assistant Coach Lysyj part ways

Following just one season with the club as an assistant coach, Mike Lysyj has resigned from the Everett Silvertips. Lysyj will be pursuing other career opportunities.

Helewka loaned to HKM Zvolen

Adam Helewka (244GP, 119G, 119A with Spokane and Red Deer ’12-’16) has been loaned by the Cleveland Monsters (AHL) to HKM Zvolen of Slovakia. Helewka signed with the Monsters on April 24th of this year. After his loan, it will be his third full season in the AHL following a season spent overseas.

Bradley signs with Swamp Rabbits

Matt Bradley (281GP, 111G, 136A with Medicine Hat and Regina) has signed on with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL. Following two seasons with the Newfoundland Growlers, Bradley has made his way south by signing in Greenville, SC. Bradley won the Kelly (ECHL) Cup with the Growlers in 2018-19.

Sylvester returns to North America signs with Wheeling Nailers

Cody Sylvester (315GP, 97G, 132A with Calgary ’08-’13) has signed with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. It is his second stint with the team. For the last three seasons, Sylvester has played for EC Bad Nauheim of the DEL2, racking up 58 goals and 89 assists. In 2013-14 Sylvester scored 24 goals and added 18 assists over 49 games for the Nailers.

Kitchon stays in North America, ends deal with ERC Ingolstadt

Brenden Kitchon (333GP, 67G, 201A with Spokane ’08-’13) has decided to remain in North America for the foreseeable future. He had previously been signed to ERC Ingolstadt of the DEL. Last season with the Vienna Capital of the EBEL, Kitchon scored 14 goals and added 17 assists in 36 games.

Mraz off to rival HC Kosice from HC Slovan Bratislava

Bruno Mraz (63GP, 2G, 16A with Brandon ’11-’12) has mutually agreed to end his contract with HC Slovan Bratislava and then signed on with HC Kosice of Slovakia’s top professional league. He has played in four games this season and did not register a point. It is his ninth professional season overseas split between Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

HC Sochi and Padakin terminate KHL agreement

Pavel Padakin (206GP, 76G, 71A with Calgary and Regina’12-’15) has mutually agreed with HC Sochi to terminate his contract with the KHL club. Padakin played eight games this season with the team and did not register a point. It was the 26-year-olds second stint with the team.

Tuulola and Vasterviks IK go separate ways

Eetu Tuulola (62GP, 18G, 13A with Everett ’16-’17) and the HockeyAllsvenskan club he was loaned to by the Calgary Flames have gone their separate ways. A release on the team website states that Tuulola joined when one of their other players was injured and he is now preparing to return.
