Seattle acquires Martin from Victoria

The Seattle Thunderbirds announced on Wednesday afternoon that they have acquired 2002-born goaltender Connor Martin from the Victoria Royals.

In exchange, the Thunderbirds have sent an eighth-round 2022 WHL Prospects Draft pick to the Royals.

Martin, 18, from Calgary, AB, has appeared in 12 WHL games with the Royals, posting a 1-6-2 record, with a 3.88 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage. He has made two appearances this season.

“We want to thank Connor for his contribution to the Royals and we wish him all the best with Seattle,” GM and Head Coach Dan Price said. “He has a strong veteran presence in the net and he’s joining a great organization in the Thunderbirds.”

“We are happy to add an experienced WHL goalie to our roster,” says general manager Bil La Forge. “We look forward to having him join our team.”

Goaltender Mason Dunsford is no longer on the Thunderbirds roster, on word on where he may be headed.
