DUB Recap: Thunderbirds beat Chiefs 3-1 to win 6th straight

 

The Seattle Thunderbirds scored three unanswered goals as they beat the Spokane Chiefs 3-1 on Friday, February 18. The win is Seattle’s sixth straight and improved to 8-1-0-1 in their last 10 games.

Chase Bertholet opened the scoring for the Chiefs with his 17th marker of the season just 1:12 into the contest. Jordan Gustafson (19th) replied for the Thunderbirds just before the halfway mark of the first period to even things up a 1-1 heading into the first-period break.

The Thunderbirds then scored twice in the second period as Matthew Rempe scored his 12th of the season just 2:38 into the second period and then Sawyer Mynio (third) scored at 13:56 to make it 3-1 through forty minutes of play. Seattle had outshot Spokane 23-8 through the first two stanzas, but the Chiefs came out in the third and fired 12 shots at the Thunderbirds netminder Scott Ratzlaff and he was up to the task of stopping them all… including this beauty:

Neither team scored in the third period and Seattle came out on top 3-1.
