Anderson-Dolan still with the Kings
Kings likely to open with 22 players; projecting the opening night roster
With captain Dustin Brown going to the injured reserved list it is starting to look like Spokane Chiefs 1999-born center Jaret Anderson-Dolan will start the year in the NHL with the L.A. Kings.
Brown broke his finger in the final preseason game for the Kings, meaning both Anderson-Dolan and former Regina Pats speedster will start the year as part of the 13 forwards on the roster.
Anderson-Dolan would be able to play nine games without his NHL entry-level contract kicking in.
Taking a look at all those 1998 or 1999-born players still eligible to return leaves us with a list of nine players who look like they are going to start the year on NHL rosters after plying their trade in the WHL last year.
The 1998-born players are: Kailer Yamamoto, Juuso Valimaki, Dillon Dube, Brett Howden, Dennis Cholowski and Sam Steel.
The 1999-born players are Henri Jokiharju, Michael Rasmussen and Anderson-Dolan.

Something to consider in the case of Simon Després: #Habs are already at 48 contracts on the limit of 50, and Bergevin likes leaving himself some room to move. Cale Fleury is also looking to earn a contract.

Three Stars of the Night:
- Brayden Watts (Vancouver Giants) – He had one goal and two assists for three points and then added the shootout winner as his Giants edged the Spokane Chiefs 5-4.
- Dawson Barteaux (Red Deer Rebels) – Barteaux tallied a career-high four assists including the secondary assist on Oleg Zaytsev’s overtime winner and the Rebels grabbed the extra point over the Calgary Hitmen 6-5.
- Tristin Langan (Moose Jaw Warriors) had two goals as his Warriors beat the Regina Pats 2-1
Honorable mentions:
The three goals by the Raiders in 16 seconds ties them with the almighty 1988-89 Swift Current Broncos for the second fastest outburst in WHL history

Troubling moment:
–Tristen Nielsen (Calgary) was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for this hit on Red Deer’s Carson Sass.
