Rockets and Hitmen exchange forwards

 

In a deal announced Wednesday, the Calgary Hitmen acquired Steel Quiring from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for Adam Kydd and a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects draft.

In Quiring, the Hitmen get a 6’2″ 188 lb. right winger that has had a solid 2021-22 season. In 25 games with the Rockets, the 18-year-old has six goals and nine assists for 15 points.

Over parts of four seasons with the Rockets, the Vernon, BC product has played in 53 games collecting 19 points (8 goals, 11 assists).

From the Calgary Hitmen press release: “Steel will be a valuable addition with his ability to play multiple positions” said Hitmen General Manager Jeff Chynoweth. “His age, skill and being a right handed shot will add depth to our forward group and we are excited to have him join our program.”

“Adam has played his entire WHL career with our club and is a quality individual both on and off the ice and we wish him the very best in Kelowna.” continued Chynoweth.

In Kydd, the Rockets get a 19-year-old veteran left winger has played for the Hitmen his entire three year career. In 104 games with the Hitmen, Kydd has 19 goals, 29 assists for 48 points.

The Regina, SK product was originally a list player and in the 2021-22 season has four goals and 15 assists for 19 points in 30 games.
