Daily Dose of the Dub: Franklin’s hat trick helps Kamloops start road trip off right

Three stars of the night:

  1. Zane Franklin – The former Lethbridge Hurricanes forward netted his first hat trick in over a year and Kamloops scored seven straight goals as the Blazers blew past the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-2.
  2. Ryan Chyzowski – Two goals and an assist for three point for Chyzowski as they flew out to a 7-3 lead, before holding on 8-5 over the Regina Pats.
  3. Nolan Maier– 44 saves in a losing effort for the Saskatoon Blades goalie. He was scored on four times as Red Deer edged the Blades 4-3 in overtime.

Honorable mentions:

Liam Keeler had two goals as the Edmonton Oil Kings blew out the Kootenay ICE in Cranbrook 7-2… Wyatte Wylie netted the overtime winner in Everett’s 2-1 road win in Moose Jaw… It was a shootout in Calgary as Lethbridge edged Mark Kastelic and the Hitmen 7-6. Kastelic had two goals and two assists… Bailey Brkin turned away 36-of-37 Portland shots in Spokane’s 4-1 win at home.

Troubling moment:

Josh Prokop given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a spear in Calgary’s 7-6 loss.
