DUBNetwork’s game of the night: Kamloops Blazers @Portland Winterhawks 5pm PDT

The Blazers end a grueling three-in-three stretch against all U.S. Division opponents on Sunday evening, hoping for their first win. On Friday at home they tied the game in the third period against Spokane but had Jake McGrew ruin the part with his second of the night in a 4-3 Chiefs win.

Then on Saturday they threw everything at Seattle Thunderbirds netminder Roddy Ross, firing 51 shots on net. The Philadelphia Flyers goalie stood tall though and stopped all but one in a 4-1 Seattle victory.

Now the Blazers set their sights on Portland, who is fresh off a 6-1 home-opener win over the Tri-City Anericans. Connor Zary had a point in each of Kamloops’ first two games and will look to extend his early season point streak

The line of Simon Knak, Cross Hanas and Tyson Kozak was dangerous all night for Portland last night. If they keep it going, the scoring depth that a young forward group in Portland has could lead them to great things.

Potential goaltending match up:

Joel Hofer (Portland) – He looked calm and collected all night on Saturday with only one puck getting behind him on a strange play.

Rayce Ramsay (Kamloops) – Dylan Grand started the last two games this weekend, so his back up will likely see the crease. Ramsay put up a 1.99 GAA and 0.931 save percentage in two games last season and a 0.918 save percentage and 2.20 GAA in four preseason games this year.

Other WHL games:
