Pats acquire Denomie from Moose Jaw

The Regina Pats have acquired forward Carson Denomie from the Moose Jaw Warriors for forward Garrett Wright.

Denomie is originally from Regina and was drafted by the Kamloops Blazers in the fifth round of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft by the Kamloops Blazers. In 152 career WHL games split between Kamloops and Moose Jaw, he’s notched 19 goals and 30 assists. He’s played 19 games with Moose Jaw this season and has five goals and eight assists.

Wright joined the Pats as a listed prospect in 2018. Born in Belfast, Ireland, the eighteen-year-old has played 80 games in the WHL with seven goals and 11 assists. This year he’s played 17 games and has seven assists.

Hurricanes acquire Thurston from Blazers

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have acquired defenseman Trevor Thurston from the Kamloops Blazers for a third-round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft. Thurston is in his first full season in the WHL after being drafted by the Blazers in the fourth round of the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft. He’s gone pointless in eight games and has received 26 penalty minutes. He was also suspended for four games for a kneeing major against the Victoria Royals on October 26th.

Cougars acquire Krivokrasov from Americans

The Prince George Cougars have acquired forward Nikita Krivokrasov from the Tri-City Americans for a conditional eighth-round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft. Originally signed by the Prince Albert Raiders, Krivokrasov played 36 games and scored three goals from 2016-18 before heading to the USHL for the 2018-19 season. Back in the WHL this year, the son of former NHLer Sergei Krivokrasov has two goals and two assists in 11 games. He was suspended for one game earlier this month for a kneeing penalty which took place in November 2nd’s game against the Vancouver Giants.

Perepeluk suspended for three games

Reid Perepeluk of the Prince George Cougars has been suspended for three games for charging in Saturday’s game against the Vancouver Giants. He will miss tonight’s game against the Edmonton Oil Kings and a doubleheader with the Kamloops Blazers and be eligible to return on November 30th against the Kelowna Rockets.

Tracey gets a two-game suspension

Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brayden Tracey has been suspended for two games for this hit on Swift Current Broncos defenseman Sam McGinley. Tracey has already served one game of his suspension and will be eligible to return on Saturday, November 23rd against the Calgary Hitmen.

Reinhardt named WHL Player of the Week

Brandon Wheat Kings forward Cole Reinhardt has been named the WHL Player of the Week after putting up five goals and two assists in three games. His best game of the week came on Sunday where he had two goals and an assist in a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Giants’ Tendeck takes home WHL Goalie of the Week Honours

For the second consecutive week, a Vancouver Giants goaltender is taking home the WHL Goalie of the Week Award. Last week it was Trent Miner who was given the honour and this week it is David Tendeck. The Arizona Coyotes prospect played in one game this week but it was a good one as he made 38 saves in a 4-0 shutout win over the Prince George Cougars.

Orchard rejoins Centennials 

After playing in 11 games with the Saskatoon Blades and recording one assist, Jerzy Orchard is back with the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials. Orchard joined the Centennials after being released from the Kamloops Blazers active roster but did not have a chance to suit up for a game before he was traded to the Blades.

Skapski announces retirement

Mackenzie Skapski (141 GP with the Kootenay ICE from 2010-14) has announced his retirement from professional hockey after five seasons. A former third-round pick of the New York Rangers, Skapski last played for HKM Zvolen in the 2018-19 season where he posted a 2.13 GAA and .928 Save Percentage in 34 games.

Ellerby signs in Austria

Keaton Ellerby (266 GP, 6 G, 54 A with the Kamloops Blazers and Moose Jaw Warriors from 2004-2008) has signed with Dornbirn in Austria for the remainder of this season. A former first-round pick of the Florida Panthers, Ellerby spent last year with the Iserlohn Roosters in Germany where he had one goal and eight assists in 51 games.

Goličič signs with Gap 

Boštjan Goličič (124 GP, 38 G, 48 A with the Calgary Hitmen from 2007-2009) has signed a contract with Gap in France for the rest of the season. He started the year with Bordeaux but mutually agreed with the team on a release after 14 games in which he tallied two goals and six assists.

Forsberg released by Belfast

Jesse Forsberg (296 GP, 24 G, 83 A with the Prince George Cougars, Seattle Thunderbirds and Moose Jaw Warriors from 2008-14) has been released by the Belfast Giants after recording one goal and four assist in six games.
