Daily Dose of the Dub: Leason lights up Hurricanes; Wolf shuts down Hitmen

Weekly Report Musings:

Brandon: Ty Thorpe (day-to-day) and Braden Schneider (week-to-week) join overage d-man Schael Higson (day-to-day) on the injury list.

Edmonton: Added 1999-born winger Zach Russell straight to their roster. Russell played 40 games with Brandon in 2016-17 and one game with the Wheat Kings last season. Over his career, he has three goals and two assists for five points. He played his first game with Edmonton on Saturday against Kelowna.

Kootenay: They sent forward Owen Pederson back down and added forward Michael Milne (2002). He has played in three games already for the ICE.

Portland: Brendan De Jong is out day-to-day with a neck injury.

Regina: Makai Mitchell was sent back home to Colorado.

Victoria: Connor Martin was sent back to the Calgary Royals Midget AAA team.

Three stars of the night:

  1. Brett Leason (Prince Albert) – First career hat-trick for the now leading overall scorer in the WHL (47 points). His Raiders trounced the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-1 and are now 21-1 overall. Just 22 games into the season, they have already matched the win total of their entire 2016-17 campaign.
  2. Dustin Wolf (Everett) – Sixth career shutout for the draft-eligible netminder. He turned away all 26 shots from the Calgary Hitmen in the 4-0 win for the Silvertips.
  3. Parker Kelly (Prince Albert) – The Ottawa Senators prospect had the primary assist on three Raiders goal in their 5-1 win.

Honorable mention:

Nick Henry of the Regina Pats had a goal and an assist as the visiting Pats ousted the Kamloops Blazers 3-2.

Troubling moment:

-After having a great three-point night, Brayden Pachal of the Raiders, took down Jordy Bellerive of the Hurricanes and was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for interference.
