Winnipeg ICE Release Preliminary 2021-2022 Schedule

The Winnipeg ICE has released its schedule alongside the rest of the East Division for the 2021-2022 WHL Season.

The season will run from October 1, 2021, to April 3, 2022. All teams are slated to play 68 games. While there will be travel, all teams will only play their inter-conference foes this season. Winnipeg will not see any teams from the US or BC divisions in the regular season.

The ICE begins their season on opening night, with a home-and-home battle of Manitoba with the Wheat Kings. Brandon gets the first game, while Winnipeg hosts their home opener on October 2 at eight to start a three-game homestand.

Winnipeg won’t face off with a team outside their division until ten games into their schedule. The ICE will head to Alberta for the first time since February of 2020 when they stop in Red Deer to clash with the Rebels. That game will come as part of a four-game road trip – the ICE has two such trips this season.

The ICE’s longest homestand comes early, stretching from November 24 to December 11, featuring seven games against five opponents. Following that is a three-game road swing, ending with another home-and-home against Brandon heading into the Christmas break. The break lasts from December 19-27, when the Wheat Kings host Winnipeg once again.

After that, it’s a sprint to the finish line, ending with a three-game road trip where the ICE will play twice in Moose Jaw and once in Regina. Before that, Winnipeg plays their final two home games back-to-back against the Raiders on March 26 and 27.
