A four-game Wednesday DUB schedule saw an overtime game, a first DUB goal, great powerplays, and a four-point game check out the action:

Chiefs win second in a row with 3-2 OT win over Cougars

The Spokane Chiefs hosted the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday night and the Chiefs skated out with a 3-2 win in overtime. 2,714 fans at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena watched as the Chiefs took a 2-1 lead into the third period before the Cougars scored a late powerplay goal to send it to overtime. The Chiefs sniped their second powerplay goal of the game in the overtime period to skate away with the win.

Bear Hughes opened the scoring for the Chiefs just before the midway point of the game with his 13th of the season. Koehn Ziemmer (18th) tied the game at 1-1 with just under three minutes in the middle stanza. Chase Bertholet‘s 15th goal of the season with 27 seconds left in the second period gave the Chiefs a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. Riley Heidt (12th) score a powerplay goal with just over five minutes to go in the contest as the teams headed into extra time.

The Cougars took a minor penalty in overtime and the Chiefs connected. The scoring summary says that Raegan Wiles (fifth) scored the OT marker, but if you watch the replay, it appeared as though Reed Jacobson got the bounce and his first goal of the season.

Mason Beaupit picked up his ninth win of the season stopping 27-of-29 Cougars shots. Tyler Brennan was strong in the Cougars goal stopping 35 Chief blasts. The boxscore.

Five different Hurricanes score in 5-2 win over Broncos

Brayden Edwards (first career DUB goal) opened the scoring just 13 seconds into the game as his Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the visiting Swift Current Broncos 5-2 at the Enmax Centre.

Cole Nagy (ninth) scored to tie the game up at 12:13 of the second period, but less than three minutes later Yegor Klavdiev (8th) put the Hurricanes up 2-1 heading into the first intermission. Justin Hall (21st) added to the Hurricanes lead at 14:13 with the only goal of the middle period (and eventual game-winner) to give Lethbridge a 3-1 lead heading into the final stretch.

Alex Thacker (seventh) score 49 seconds into the final period to give the Hurricanes a 4-1 lead and Ty Nash sealed the contest just over three minutes later with his 12th of the season to give the Hurricanes a 5-1 lead. 16-year-old Grayson Burzynski (2nd) added a late goal for the Broncos with 26 seconds left to make it 5-2.

Jared Picklyk moved to 6-5-0-0 on the season making 21 saves in the Hurricanes win. Isaac Poulter stopped 30 of 35 shots in the loss. The boxscore.

Oil Kings tame Tigers 6-2

Dylan Guenther extended his point streak to nine games with a four-point effort (2G-2A) as the Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 6-2 before 3,122 at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The Eastern Conference first-place Oil Kings won their third straight and are 8-2-0-0 in their last 10 games.

The Oil Kings scored three powerplay goals and outshot the Tigers 47-20 in the 6-2 win. Guenther scored his 26th and 27th goals of the season. Jake Neighbours also scored a pair of goals (ninth and 10th) for the Oil Kings who scored the first four goals of the game before the Tigers got on the board. Kaiden Guhle (fourth) and Jalen Luypen (17th) also scored for the Oil Kings. Defensemen Daniel Baker (fifth) and Rhett Parsons (fourth) replied for the Tigers.

Kolby Hay made 18 stops to pick up his eighth win of the season for Edmonton. Garin Bjorklund got the call for the Tigers and was replaced by Beckett Langkow after 24:21. Bjorklund made eight saves on 12 shots while Langkow stopped 33 shots in relief. The boxscore.
