Silvertips win seventh in a row in 6-0 win over Cougars

The Everett Silvertips scored twice in each period and outshot the Prince George Cougars 62-24 in a convincing 6-0 win on home ice at Angel of the WInds Arena. With 5,419 in the house, the Silvertips had six different players score a goal and Koen MacInnes was perfect stopping 24 shots for the shutout.

Jackson Berezowski (30th) and Michal Gut (10th) opened the scoring in the first period for the Silvertips. Matthew Ng (seventh) and Niko Huuhtanen (24th) added to the Everett lead in the second. Ronan Seeley (ninth) and Austin Roest (seventh) capped off the game with two in the third.

MacInnes’ shutout was his third of the season and moved him to 13-3-0-1 on the season with Everett. Tyler Brennan stopped a whopping 56 shots in the loss. The boxscore.

Thunderbirds score 7-2 win over Giants

The Seattle Thunderbirds scored five goals in the first two periods before the Vancouver Giants got on the board in the third and then added two more in a convincing 7-2 win at accesso ShoWare Center.

Lukas Svejkovsky had a four-point night (1G [his 16th]-3A) to lead the way for the Thunderbirds. Reid Schaefer (18th, 19th) and Lucas Ciona (12th, 13th) each scored twice in the victory, while Jordan Gustafson (17th) and Sam Popowich (fifth) added singletons in the win. Justin Lies (seventh) and Adam Hall (12th) replied for the Giants.

16-year-old Scott Ratzlaff remained undefeated in regulation at 9-0-1-0 making 27 saves. Jesper Vikman was pulled after allowing four goals in 15 shots just before the midway point of the game. Will Gurski stopped 19 of 22 shots in relief. The boxscore.

WWWWWWWWWinterhawks beat Chiefs 7-3

The Portland Winterhawks won their ninth straight game with a 7-3 win over the hometown Spokane Chiefs. The Winterhawks scored four times on the powerplay as they increased their point-streak to 16 games (15-0-0-1).

Jadon Dureau (ninth) opened the scoring for the Winterhawks just over five minutes into the game. Brayden Crampton (first career DUB goal) at 13:40 and Chase Bertholet (16th) ath 13:55 replied with goals 15 seconds apart for the Chiefs to give them a short-lived 2-1 lead. Kyle Chyzowski (seventh) replied 26 seconds later to tie the game. Dureau scored his second of the game (10th) to give the Winterhawks a 3-2 lead heading into the first intermission.

Graham Sward (seventh) tied the game uo at 4:43 of the second before Clay Hanus replied 26 seconds later to give the Winterhawks the lead that they would add to three more times before the end of the game. Marcus Nguyen (10th) scored before the end of the second, James Stefan (23rd) would make it 6-3 early in the third before Dureau would complete his hat-trick with just over six minutes left, giving Portland a 7-3 win.

Dante Giannuzzi stopped 16 shots to pick up his 15th win of the season for the Hawks. Mason Beaupit played the first forty minutes for the Chiefs, surrendering five goals on 31 shots. Manny Panghli stopped 13 of 15 in his one period of relief. The boxscore.

Rockets win eighth straight in 6-1 win over Americans

The Kelowna Rockets scored the first give goals of the game and cruised to a 6-1 win over the Tri-City Americans at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

Andrew Cristall (12th, 13th) and Jake Lee (10th, 11th) scored the first four goals of the game and Nolan Flamand (seventh) made it a 5-0 game heading into the third period. Chase Friedt-Mohr (third) got the Americans on the board  just over six minutes into the final stanza before Adam Kydd (eighth) scored to make it 6-1 with under a minute remaining, giving the Rockets their eighth win in a row.

Jari Kykkanen made his second career start and stopped 24 of 25 blasts to remain undefeated at 2-0-0-0 in his brief DUB career. Nick Avakyan went the distance for the Americans stopping 23 shots along the way in the clubs sixth straight defeat. The boxscore.

Blazers scorch Royals 8-2

The Kamloops Blazers rolled to an 8-2 win over the Victoria Royals notching their eighth win in a row and 30th on the season. The Blazers took a 4-0 lead into the third period of this one, the teams then combined for six goals in a span of 9:03 with the Blazers getting four of them in the 8-2 win.

Daylan Kuefler (20th, 21st), Connor Levis (10th) and Matthew Seminoff (18th) scored the first four goals for the Blazers. Seminoff added his second of the game (19th) that started the scoring flurry late in the third. Brayden Schuurman (23rd) scored to get the Royals on the board at 5-1. Luke Toporowski (25th), Drew Englot (eighth), and Dylan Sydor (eighth) added to the lead to make it 8-1. Keanu Derungs (12th) closed the scoring with a Royals goal to make it an 8-2 final.

Dylan Garand made 26 stops for the Blazers picking up his 24th win of the season for the Blazers. Campbell Arnold stopped 29 of 37 shots in the loss before being replaced by 15-year-old Jayden Kraus who stopped all four shots he faced in 2:39 of action. The Royals have now not won in 13-straight contests (0-12-0-1). The boxscore.

Warriors win eighth in a row with 5-2 win over the Tigers

Five different players scored as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2 at Co-Op Place in front of 1,793 fans. The Warriors scored four times in the first period before the Tigers replied with a pair of goals before the Warriors sealed it with just under 6 minutes left in a 5-2 win.

Majid Kaddoura (fourth), Ryder Korczak (17th), Eric Alarie (13th) and Marek Howell (first career DUB goal) scored the first for Warrior goals. Brayden Boehm (fifth) and Teague Patton (eighth) got the Tigers on the board. Jagger Firkus then sealed the game with his 26th for the Warriors.

Jackson Unger mage 29 saves for the Warriors picking up his sixth win of the campaign. Beckett Langkow went the distance for the Tigers stopping 25 of 30 shots directed his way. The boxscore.

Oil Kings get back on track in 5-2 win over Raiders

The Edmonton Oil Kings scored three times on the powerplay in a 5-2 win over the hometown Prince Albert Raiders in front of 2,322 fans at the Art Hauser Centre.

Justin Sourdif (10th, 11th) scored twice, both on the powerplay, to lead the Oil Kings. Josh Williams (21st), Jake Neighbours (12th), and Jalen Luypen (18th) rounded out the scoring for the Eastern Conference leading Oil Kings. Jakub Demek notched a trio of assists for the victors who outshot the Raiders 40-19. Cale Sanders (seventh, eighth) scored both Raiders goals in the loss.

17-year-old Kolby Hay matched his age as he made 17 stops to pick up his ninth win for the Oil Kings. Tikhon Chaika faced 40 shots, stopping 35 in the loss. The boxscore.

Bains’ five-point night put Rebels over Blades 6-1

2001-born Arshdeep Bains scored a hat-trick and added a pair of assists as the Red Deer Rebels scored six unanswered goals in a 6-1 win over the Saskatoon Blades. 2,895 at the SaskTel Centre watch as the Blades got the ball rolling only to have the Rebels take control.

Brandon Lisowsky (23rd) opened the scoring in the Saturday night game at 15:52 of the first period. Kalan Lind (ninth) scored less than two minutes later to tie the game up at 1-1 heading into the second period. The Rebels scored five times in a span of just over nine minutes in the second period, Bains scored at 3:16 and 4:50, Jace Isley (ninth) at 7:11, Bains completed the hat-trick at 10:08, and Liam Keeler (21st) rounded out the scoring at 12:19. Neither team got on the board in the third period. Bains’ five points gives him the league lead at 64.

Connor Ungar picked up his 15th win of the season stopping 18-of-19 shots he faced. Ethan Chadwick got the start for the Blades and was pulled after allowing all six goals on 25 Rebel shots. Nolan Maier came in to spell Chadwick and stopped all 11 shots he faced in the 27:41 he played. The boxscore.

Broncos hang on to beat Hurricanes 2-1

The hometown Swift Current Broncos scored the first two goals of the game and held on to a 2-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes before 1,342 at the Innovation Credit Union I-Plex.

Cole Nagy (10th) opened the scoring for the Broncos with the lone goal in the opening forty minutes at 10:58 of the second period. Connor Hvidston (fifth) scored 19 seconds int the third to give the Broncos an early third period 2-0 lead. Justin Hall (23rd) replied for the Hurricanes at 15:21 of the third period, but it was not enough as the Broncos won 2-1.

Overage goalie Isaac Poulter was strong in the Bronco net stopping 25 shots to pick up his 13th win. Jared Picklyk, getting his eighth straight start stopped 16 of 18 shots he faced. The boxscore.
