Hockey Operations staff changes for Raiders

Director of Player Personnel Curt Brownlee and the Prince Albert Raiders have parted ways effective immediately.

Long-time scout Bruno Zarrillo has assumed the role. Zarrillo has been a scout for the Raiders for eight seasons.

Kneen re-signs with Americans

22-year-old defenseman Nolan Kneen (28 goals, 111 assists in 310 games with Kamloops and Saskatoon 2014-20) has re-signed with the ECHL’s Allen Americans.

Kneen, who’s from Kelowna, BC, played 25 games for the Americans in 2020-21. He scored three goals and had five assists.

Magee signs with HC Kometa Brno

27-year-old forward Brandon Magee (113 goals, 151 assists in 318 games with Chilliwack / Victoria 2009-15) has signed with HC Kometa Brno of the Czech league.

Last season, Magee played for the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL. He appeared in six games, earning one assist.

Parkkonen signs with HC Energie Karlovy Vary

28-year-old defenceman Patrik Parkkonen (7 goals, 28 assists in 110 games with Medicine Hat 2010-12) has signed with HC Energie Karlovy Vary of the Czech league.

Parkkonen, who’s from Porvoo, FIN, played for the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL last season, where he scored four goals and added 16 assists in 33 games.

Berglund joins Barys Nur-Sultan

29-year-old forward Jacob Berglund (27 goals, 32 assists in 132 games with Portland and Lethbridge 2009-11) has signed with the KHL’s Barys Nur-Sultan.

Berglund, who’s from Malmo, SWE, played for two different KHL teams in 2020-21. First, he was with Traktor Chelyabinsk (2 goals, 4 assists in 13 games), and then he was dealt to Severstal Cherepovets (4 goals, 7 assists in 22 games.
