Pakkala nets first WHL goal

Scoring at 5:30 of the second period to give the Prince Albert Raiders a 2-1 lead over the Medicine Hat Tigers was 17-year-old forward, Hayden Pakkala.

Pakkala, who hails from Okotoks, AB, was a seventh-round pick of the Winnipeg ICE in 2019. He was playing in his eighth WHL game.

Arp scores first WHL goal

With the Medicine Hat Tigers leading the Prince Albert Raiders 3-2, 17-year-old forward Steven Arp scored his first WHL goal.

Arp, who is from Swan River, MB, was a listed player signed by the Tigers. He was playing in his third WHL game.

Camazzola nets first WHL goal

With 16:47 to go in the third period of last night’s game, Vancouver Giants 18-year-old defenseman Nicco Camazzola scored his first WHL goal to cut the Kamloops Blazers lead to 6-3.

Camazzola, who is from Burnaby, BC, was a fourth-round pick at the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft. He was playing in his 25th WHL game.

Lysell scores first WHL goal

With 9:13 remaining in the third period, 18-year-old forward Fabian Lysell scored his first WHL goal to draw the Giants to within two goals of the Blazers. They went on to lose 7-4.

Lysell, who is from Goteborg, Sweden, was the 30th overall pick at the 2020 CHL Import Draft. The Boston Bruins drafted Lysell 21st overall at the 2021 NHL Draft.

Courtney grabs first WHL goal

At 11:52 of the third period and his Everett Silvertips leading 3-1, 17-year-old forward Beau Courtney scored his first WHL goal to extend the lead. Everett went on to win 5-2.

Courtney, who is from Parker, Colorado, was Everett’s eighth-round pick at the 2019 WHL Draft. He was playing in his fourth WHL game.

Singer scores first WHL goal

The Prince George Cougars trailed the Victoria Royals 1-0 early in the second period when 16-year-old forward Ryker Singer scored his first WHL goal to tie the game.

Singer, who is from Paradise Hills, SK, was the Cougars’ first-round pick at the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. He was playing in his fourth WHL game.

Brown scores his first WHL goal

With 4:11 to play in the second period, 16-year-old forward Caden Brown scored his first WHL goal to make it 5-1 for the Cougars.

Brown, who hails from Prince George, BC, was a first-round pick of the Cougars at the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. He was playing in his sixth WHL game.

Two Blades grab first goals

18-year-old defenseman Spencer Shugrue opened the scoring in last night’s game between the Saskatoon Blades and the Regina Pats. The goal came at 12:25 of the first period.

Shugrue, who hails from Vancouver, BC, was a ninth-round pick at the 2018 WHL Draft. He was playing in his 24th WHL game.

17-year-old defenseman Pavel Bocharov scored at 12:19 of the third period to the Blades a 4-2 lead. The team went on to win 5-2.

Bocharov, who is from Escondido, California, was an eighth-round draft pick of the Blades at the 2019 WHL Draft. He was playing in his 23rd game.

Americans and Rockets make a deal

The Tri-City Americans announced on Friday that they had traded a seventh-round 2022 WHL Prospects Draft pick to the Kelowna Rockets for 19-year-old forward Ethan Ernst.

Ernst, who is from Weyburn, SK had played in just one game with the Rockets this season. He was a 2017 third-round WHl Draft pick of the Rockets.

Dureau pots first professional goal

20-year-old forward Jaydon Dureau (41 goals, 89 assists in 158 games with Portland 2017-21) scored his first professional goal last night as a member of the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch.

Dureau, who hails from White City, SK, was playing in his first AHL game of the season. He had played two games with the Crunch at the end of last season. The Tampa Bay Lightning drafted Dureau in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He has not yet signed.

Cicek grabs first professional goal

21-year-old defenseman Nick Cicek (nine goals, 39 assists in 138 games with Portland 2017-21) scored his first professional goal last night while playing for the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda.

Cicek, who is from Winnipeg, MB, was playing in his second AHL game. He was not drafted by an NHL team but signed with the Barracuda on May 21, 2021.

Mosienko signs with Heartlanders

37-year-old forward Tyler Mosienko (81 goals, 151 assists in 338 games with Kelowna from 2000-05) has signed with the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL.

Mosienko, who is from West St. Paul, MB, did not play a game last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He last played in 2019-20 with Saale Bulls Halle of the Germany3 league where he scored five goals and had 10 assists in 15 games.

Sleptsov parts ways with HK Ryazan

25-year-old defenseman Alexei Sleptsov (four goals, 41 assists in 114 games with Moose Jaw and Victoria from 2013-15) has parted ways with the VHL’s HK Ryazan.

Sleptsov, who is from Moskva, Russia, was the 19th overall pick at the 2013 CHL Import Draft by the Moose Jaw Warriors. He played 17 games with HK Ryazan this season scoring two goals and adding three assists.

Yoder joins Oilers

After being quietly removed from the Victoria Royals roster, 19-year-old forward Ty Yoder (10 goals, six assists in 116 games with Victoria 2017-21) has resurfaced with the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL.

Yoder, who hails from Tofield, AB, played five games with the Royals this season, earning one assist. He was a fifth-round pick of the Royals at the 2017 WHL Draft.
