Brooks claimed off waivers by Montreal

Forward Adam Brooks (119 goals, 216 assists in 317 games with Regina 2012-17) has been claimed off waivers by the Montreal Canadiens. The Toronto Maple Leafs attempted to send Brooks down to the Marlies over the weekend.

The 25-year-old from Winnipeg, MB, split his 2020-21 season between the Maple Leafs (11GP, 4G, 1A) and their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies (17GP, 4G, 9A). The Maple Leafs selected Brooks in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft. Was a Calder Cup champion in 2017-18 with the Marlies.

Oliver heads to Heartlanders training camp

Forward Kaid Oliver (68 goals, 85 assists in 257 games with Victoria and Edmonton 2016-21) has been invited to Iowa Heartlanders training camp.

The 21-year-old from White Rock, BC played 23 games with the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2020-21, where he registered 11 goals and added 14 assists.

Denome and Lischynsky head to Tulsa training camp

Forward Carson Denomie (49 goals, 60 assists in 222 games with Kamloops, Moose Jaw, and Regina 2017-21) and defenseman Tanner Lischynsky (12 goals, 31 assists in 173 games with Prince George and Kootenay 2012-16) have been invited to the Tulsa Oilers training camp.

Denomie, 21, who is from Regina, SK played 24 games with the Regina Pats in 2020-21, where he collected 14 goals and added nine assists.

Lischynsky, 26, who is from Saskatoon, SK played just two games in 2020-21 with the Central Butte Flyers of the SVHL. He scored three goals and added one assist.

Brkin invited to Rush training camp

Goaltender Bailey Brkin (44-32-6, 3.40 goals-against average, .898 save percentage, and five shutouts in 89 games with Swift Current, Kootenay, Spokane, and Moose Jaw 2016-20) was invited to the Rapid City Rush’s training camp.

The 22-year-old from Sherwood Park, AB spent the 2020-21 season with Ryerson University but did not get into any games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He last played with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL earning a 17-8-3 record along with a 3.37 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage.
