Silvertips clinch U.S. Division crown

With four games remaining in their schedule, the Everett Silvertips have clinched the US Division title. Everett is 15-4-0-0 this season and has a nine-point lead on the Portland Winterhawks. The Silvertips were just one point back of the Winterhawks last season when the COVID-19 pandemic ended the season. Everett has won eight division titles in their 18 seasons of existence, last winning during the 2018-19 season.

Thornton scores first WHL goal

Spokane Chiefs 2004-born forward Ben Thornton scored his first career WHL goal as the Chiefs defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 8-3. Thornton’s goal came at 16:08 of the third period, making the score 8-3. The Chiefs selected Thornton in the first round of the 2019 WHL Draft.

Miller scores first WHL goal

Lethbridge Hurricanes 2005-born forward Cole Miller scored his first WHL goal in last night’s 6-3 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers. Miller’s goal came at 17:45 of the first period and made the score 2-0 Hurricanes. Lethbridge selected Miller in the first round of the 2020 WHL Draft. He was playing in his 10th WHL game.

Dezainde scores first WHL goal

Medicine Hat Tigers 2004-born forward Carlin Dezainde scored his first career WHL goal in a 6-3 loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Dezainde’s goal came at 11:42 of the third period, making the score 5-3. The Tigers signed Dezainde on April 2nd, 2021 following five games with Edge Prep School’s U18 team. He was playing in his 11th WHL game.

Dereniwsky scores first WHL goal

Victoria Royals 2004-born forward Carter Dereniwsky scored his first WHL goal in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Vancouver Giants. Dereniwsky’s goal opened the scoring at 1:46 of the first period. The Royals selected Dereniwsky in the second round of the 2019 WHL Draft. He was playing in his 16th game.

Sogaard earns first AHL win

Goaltender Mads Sogaard (74GP, 40-21-6, 2.58GAA, .915sv% with Medicine Hat ’18-’20) has earned his first professional win in North America with the Belleville Senators. Sogaard had spent 16 games with the Esbjerg Energy of Denmark before returning to play in North America. Sogaard is a second-round 2019 NHL Draft pick of the Ottawa Senators.

Zamula returned to Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Wylie called up to the taxi Squad

Defenseman Yegor Zamula (158GP, 19G, 83A with Regina and Calgary ’17-’20) has been reassigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms from the Philadelphia Flyers taxi squad. Zamula has played in two games with the Flyers this season, with no points. In 18 games with the Phantoms, he has five assists. Zamula was signed as a free agent on September 20, 2018.

Defenseman Wyatte Wylie (272GP, 31G, 121A with Everett ’15-’20) has been called up to the Flyers taxi squad from the Phantoms. Wylie has yet to get into game action with the Flyers this season. In 20 games with the Phantoms, Wylie has one goal and five assists. Wylie was a fifth-round pick of the Flyers at the 2018 NHL Draft.

Gut signs with HC Verva Litvinov

Forward Michal Gut (51GP, 13G, 23A with Everett ’19-’20) has signed with HC Verva Litvinov of the Czech league. In 2020-21 Gut played for HC Banik Sokolov of the Czech2 league. He scored 10 goals and added 11 assists in 20 games. Gut was the 57th overall pick at the 2019 CHL Import Draft.

Puustinen released by Sibir Novosibirsk

Forward Juuso Puustinen (124GP, 59G, 65A with Kamloops ’06-’08) has been released by Sibir Novosibirsk of the KHL. In 46 games this season, Puustinen scored 18 goals and added 12 assists. It was his second season with the KHL team and third overall in the league. Puustinen was a fifth-round draft pick of the Calgary Flames at the 2006 NHL Draft. The Blazers made him the 26th overall pick at the 2006 CHL Import Draft.

Broda released by Graz99ers

Forward Joel Broda (330GP, 141G, 121A with Tri-City, Moose Jaw, and Calgary ’04-’10) has been released by Graz99ers of ICEHL. In his only season with the team, Broda scored 10 goals and added 14 assists through 46 games. Broda was a fifth-round pick of the Washington Capitals at the 2008 NHL Draft. He won an Ed Chynoweth Cup with the Hitmen in 2009-10.

Vincour signs extension with HC Kometa Brno

Forward Tomas Vincour (171GP, 62G, 61A with Edmonton and Vancouver ’07-’10) has signed a contract extension with HC Kometa Brno of the Extraliga. Vincour just completed his fourth season with Brno, scoring six goals and adding six assists in 39 games. Vincour was a fifth-round pick of the Dallas Stars at the 2009 NHL Draft and has 95 games of NHL experience.

Collins signs extension with Villacher SV

Forward Chris Collins (200GP, 37G, 71A with Chilliwack and Saskatoon ’07-’12) has signed an extension with Villacher SV of ICEHL. Collins has spent the last two seasons with the team. In 2019-20, Collins scored 18 goals and added 21 assists in 50 games.

Peterek signs extension with HC Frydek-Mistek

Forward Jonas Peterek (55GP, 13G, 18A with Kelowna and Calgary ’19-’20) has signed a contract extension with HC Frydek-Mistek of the Czech2 league. The Hitmen had selected Peterek 37th overall at the 2019 CHL Import Draft. Peterek split 2020-21 between HC Ocelari Trinec (7GP, 0G,0A) and HC Frydek-Mistek (32GP, 5G, 12A).

Khenkel signs extension with Ak Bars Kazan

Defenseman Kristian Khenkel (29GP, 1G, 3A with Lethbridge ’13-’14) has signed a contract extension with Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL. Khenkel has played five seasons in the KHL and 2019-20 was his second with Ak Bars Kazan. In 43 games in 2019-20, Khenkel scored three goals and added six assists. The Hurricanes selected Khenkel 22nd overall at the 2013 CHL Import Draft.

Cumiskey signs extension with Dusseldorfer EG

Defenseman Kyle Cumiskey (177GP, 12G, 67A with Kelowna ’03-’06) has signed an extension through 2024 with Dusseldorfer EG of the DEL. Cumiskey scored one goal and added 15 assists in 37 games during his first season with Dusseldorfer. Cumiskey was a seventh-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche at the 2005 NHL Draft and has 139 games of NHL experience. Cumiskey won the 2003-04 Memorial Cup as host and the 2004-05 Ed Chynoweth Cup.

Voracek signs extension with HC Poruba

Defenseman Tomas Voracek (67GP, 4G, 10A with Prince Albert ’07-’09) has signed an extension with HC Poruba of the Czech2 league. Voracek scored three goals and added five assists in 29 games in 2020-21 with HC Poruba. The Raiders selected Voracek 19th overall at the 2007 CHL Import Draft.
