McLeod signs amateur tryout with Eagles

Defenseman Wyatt McLeod (228GP, 12G, 57A with Edmonton and Saskatoon ’16-’21) has signed an amateur tryout agreement with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles. McLeod had played three ECHL games with the Utah Grizzlies before the WHL season and was held pointless. With the Blades, McLeod scored three goals and added 12 assists through 24 games.

Fonstad signs ATO with Monsters

Forward Cole Fonstad (293GP, 92G, 189A with Prince Albert and Everett ’15-’21) has signed an amateur tryout with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters. Fonstad played out the 2020-21 season with the Silvertips, scored 16 goals, and added 18 assists in 23 games. A 2018 fifth-round NHL Draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens, Fonstad went unsigned by the team.

Stacha scores first WHL goal

Vancouver Giants 2002-born defenseman Marko Stacha scored his first WHL goal last night at 12:13 of the first period to make the score 2-0. The goal was the eventual game-winner as the Giants went on to win 6-1. Vancouver selected Stacha in the second round of the 2020 CHL Import Draft.

Christoffer signs with JYP

Forward Braden Christoffer (202GP, 50G, 64A with Regina ’12-’15) has signed with JYP of Liiga in Finland. Through 46 games in 2020-21, Christoffer scored 19 goals and added 32 assists while playing with HC Innsbruck of ICEHL. The Sherwood Park, AB native was not drafted into the WHL but went on to captain the Pats in the 2014-15 season.

Vosvrda departs HK Poprad

Goaltender Tomas Vosvrda (36GP, 14-11-3, 2.87GAA, .899sv% with Medicine Hat ’07-’08) has parted ways from HK Poprad of Slovakia’s top professional league following three seasons. Through 41 games, Vosvrda had a 2.61 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. Vosvrda was the 59th overall pick at the 2007 CHL Import Draft.

Card departs Ravensburg

Defenseman Mike Card (269GP, 35G, 112A with Kelowna ’02-’06) has not been re-signed by the DEL2 team, Ravensburg Towerstars. Card had joined the team on January 25th and played 16 games with the team earning four assists. In his 11 prior games with EC Bad Nauheim, Card had two assists. The Buffalo Sabres selected Card in the eighth round of the 2004 NHL Draft.
