McLeod sign amateur tryout with Grizzlies

Defenseman Wyatt McLeod (228GP, 12G, 57A with Edmonton and Saskatoon ’16-’21) has signed an amateur tryout with the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies. McLeod is coming off a three goal and 12 assist season with the Blades through 24 games. McLeod was a seventh-round 2015 WHL Draft pick of the Oil Kings.

Langhamer signs with Ilves

Goaltender Marek Langhamer (120GP, 68-42-7, 2.86GAA, .905sv% with Medicine Hat ’12-’15) has signed with Ilves of Finland’s Liiga. Langhamer is coming off a 10-11-2 season with the KHL’s Amur Khabarovsk, where he allowed 2.75 goals per game and had a .916 save percentage. It was his third season with the team. Medicine Hat selected Langhamer 47th overall at the 2012 CHL Import Draft. Langhamer is an unsigned seventh-round 2012 NHL Draft pick of the Arizona Coyotes.

Carson signs extension with Bratislava

Defenseman Brett Carson (268GP, 28G, 62A with Moose Jaw and Calgary ’01-’06) has signed a contract extension with the Bratislava Capitals of the ICEHL. Carson played in just 10 games this season, registering one assist. Carson was a fourth-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes at the 2004 NHL Draft and went on to play 90 NHL games with Carolina and the Calgary Flames.

Roman signs extension with HC Ocelari Trinec

Forward Milos Roman (160GP, 61G, 78A with Vancouver ’17-’20) has signed a contract extension with HC Ocelari Trinec. Through 34 games with the team this season, Roman scored seven goals and added five assists. He also helped Ocelari Trinec win the Extraliga championship, scoring twice and adding an assist in 16 games. Roman was the sixth overall pick at the 2017 CHL Import Draft. The Calgary Flames selected Roman in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Draft.

Herman signs with HC Prerov

Forward Jakub Herman (34GP, 3G, 3A with Moose Jaw ’09-’10) has signed with HC Prerov of the Czech2 league. Herman spent the last three seasons with Berani Zlin of the Czech league, posting four goals and eight assists in 28 games in 2020-21. Herman was the 53rd overall selection at the 2009 CHL Import Draft.

Waltz signs with Anglet

Defenseman Colton Waltz (272GP, 15G, 74A with Brandon and Saskatoon ’10-’16) has signed with Anglet of Ligue Mangus in France. Waltz played 11 games in France2 with Strasbourg in 2020-21 and scored four goals to go with 11 assists.

5 WHL alumni move on from Adler Mannheim

Forward Craig Schira (340GP, 33G, 124A with Regina and Vancouver ’03-’09) has departed Adler Mannheim following a 25 game stint with the team. He had two goals and one assist. Schira also played four games on loan to HV71 of the SHL (2G, 0A) and six games with Rogle BK (0G,0A).

Forward Brendan Shinnimin (267GP, 131G, 206A with Tri-City ’07-’12) has also departed Adler Mannheim. In 25 games with the team in 2020-21, Shinnimin had nine goals and five assists. Undrafted to the NHL, Shinnimin earned 12 games of experience with the Arizona Coyotes in the 2014-15 season.

Forward Taylor Leier (198GP, 77G, 101A with Portland ’11-’14) played 20 games with Adler Mannheim before his departure. He had five goals and five assists. Leier also played 10 games with HC Ocelari Trinec, posting one goal and four assists.

Forward Yannik Valenti (52GP, 4G, 5A with Vancouver ’18-’19) had played parts of three seasons with Adler Mannheim before his departure. This season, in nine games, Valenti had two assists. He also played with Heilbronner Falken (on loan) and had 11 goals and 14 assists through 26 games.

Forward Davis Koch (319GP, 91G, 164A with Edmonton and Vancouver ’13-’20) had not played with Adler Mannheim but had been loaned to Heilbronner Falken each of the last two seasons. In 2020-21, Koch scored 12 goals and added 14 assists in 29 games.
