DUB’s Daily Dose: Oil Kings, Thunderbirds, Rockets clinch playoff spots, and more!

 

Oil Kings clinch playoff spot

*Missed this in yesterday’s Dose.*

The Edmonton Oil Kings were the first team in the Eastern Conference to clinch a playoff spot after they beat the Calgary Hitmen 7-2 on Friday night. The win was the Oil Kings’ 40th of the season which makes them the first team to reach that marker in just their 54th game of the season (40-11-2-1).

Thunderbirds clinch a playoff spot

The Seattle Thunderbirds are the fifth team in the DUB to punch their ticket to the 2022 DUB postseason with a 4-3 win over the hometown Everett Silvertips on Saturday night. The win gives the T-Birds 71 points (33-14-4-1) which currently has them in the fourth spot in the Western Conference.

Rockets clinch a playoff spot

The Kelowna Rockets are the sixth team in the DUB to add their names to the playoff schedule as they beat the Vancouver Giants 5-3 on home ice. They are the fifth team in the Western Conference to make the 2022 playoffs.

Dudas leaves Piranhas

It was announced on the Rostock Piranhas website that Jesse Dudas (Lethbridge, Prince George, Swift Current, Regina 2003-09) would return to the Piranhas for the 2022-23 season and that he will join a DEL2 team when his contract expires. In 30 games with the German3 team, the 33-year-old defenseman had 34 points (14G-20A). He started the season with Unia Oswiecim (Poland) where he had eight points (2G-6A) in nine games.
