DUB’s Daily Dose: Oil Kings still reign supreme, Gervais commits to Lakehead, Jobke extends in Ingolstadt and more!

 

Oil Kings still number 1

The Edmonton Oil Kings reign as the number one team in the CHL’s most recent Top-10 Rankings. The Winnipeg ICE move back up to number two, the Kamloops Blazers move up to number five, the Everett Silvertips move down to six and the Portland Winterhawks round out the Top-10 in the 10th spot.

Gervais commits to Lakehead

Kishaun Gervais (Portland 2019-21) has committed to play for the Lakehead University Timberwolves (USports) for the 2022-23 season. He is in his final season of junior hockey and is a co-captain with the Yorkton Terriers (SJHL). The hometown product played 47 games where he notched 43 points (22G-21A), he is currently playing in the playoffs.

In 50 DUB games with the Winterhawks, he had 19 points (9G-10A).

Calder Brooks joins Silver Knights

Calder Brooks (Calgary, Prince Albert, Spokane 2011-15) has signed a professional tryout with the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights. The 27-year-old has been with the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL where he has 27 points (14G-13A) in 36 games.

The Emerald Park, SK product played in 194 DUB games over four seasons where he had 124 points (48G-76A).

Nachbaur assigned to Swamp Rabbits

21-year-old Justin Nachbaur (Prince Albert 2017-21) was reassigned to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL) from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL). He has played six games with the Checkers where he has no points. In 10 games with the Swamp Rabbits, Nachbaur has seven points (4G-3A).

The four-year DUB veteran from Cross Lake, MB played his entire career with the Raiders where he played 216 games collecting 89 points (45G-44A) along the way.

Johnson recalled by Blackhawks

Reese Johnson (Red Deer 2014-19) was recalled by the Chicago Blackhawks after being reassigned to the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs on March 10th. The 23-year-old forward has spent time with both clubs this season. With the Blackhawks, he has skated in 18 games where he has four points (1G-3A). He has played seven games with the IceHogs he has three points (1G-2A).

The Regina, SK product played 187 career DUB games where he notched 100 points (55G-45A).

Jobke extends with ERC Ingolstadt

Colton Jobke (Kelowna, Regina 2009-13) has signed a one-year extension with ERC Ingolstadt in Germany’s DEL. The 29-year-old defenseman is in his fourth season with Ingolstadt and in his eighth in the DEL. So far in 2021-22, he has played 33 games had has three assists.

From the ERC Ingolstadt website:

“Colton has become a leader on our team over the years. It’s not for nothing that he wears the “A” on his shirt. He always takes care of the needs of the team”, ERC sports director Larry Mitchell emphasizes the character of the defender and adds: “He is responsible for the rough stuff. His strengths are on the defensive. He never rests on himself, blocks an incredible number of shots, is important when outnumbered and protects his teammates when the going gets tough. Colton is doing very well in the role we have envisioned for him.”

“The ERC is undoubtedly one of the best organizations to play for in the DEL. In addition, I just like it in Ingolstadt. I like the city and the community here. Everyone treats you very friendly and is very helpful. Both the club and our neighbors and the fans. I have the feeling that I’m rooted here now and that’s something you want to keep.”

The four-year DUB veteran from Vancouver played 222 games where he collected 65 points (14G-51A).
