DUB’s Daily Dose: Yager rewrites Warriors history, Pouliot signs with Golden Knights, and more!

 

Yager makes Warriors history

Brayden Yager broke the Moose Jaw Warriors record for goals by a 16-year-old player when he scored his 30th of the season on Tuesday night against the Brandon Wheat Kings. His goal broke Theoren Fleury’s previous club record of 29 which was set back in 1984-85.

Pouliot signs with Golden Knights

Derrick Pouliot (Portland 2009-14) has signed an NHL contract with the Vegas Golden Knights. The Estevan, SK product had signed an AHL contract with Vegas’ AHL club the Henderson Silver Knights. The 28-year-old defenseman has played 42 games with Henderson where he has 19 points (2G-17A).

Pouliot played his entire DUB career patrolling the blueline with the Winterhawks where he appeared in 247 games and provided some offense picking up 205 points (42G-163A).

Moberg reassigned to Solar Bears

Cole Moberg (Prince George 2016-20) was reassigned to the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears by the San Jose Barracuda (AHL). The 21-year-old defenseman has played for both clubs this season. With the Barracuda, he has 10 points (2G-8A) in 29 games. With the Solar Bears, he has played eight games and has three points (1G-2A).

The North Vancouver, BC product played his entire 187 game DUB career with the Cougars where he had 89 points (29G-60A).

Benson assigned to Condors

Tyler Benson (Vancouver 2013-18) cleared waivers and was loaned to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors. In 29 games with the Edmonton Oilers, the hometown product has a pair of points (1G-1A).

The 24-year-old forward played 190 games with the Giants where he collected 184 points (61G-123A). He was the Giants captain for his final three seasons in the DUB (from 2015-18).

Juulsen recalled by Vancouver

Noah Juulsen (Everett 2012-17) was recalled by the Vancouver Canucks one day after being reassigned to the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks. He has played in seven games with Vancouver this season where he has two points (both assists). In 38 games for Abbotsford, he has 15 points (3G-12A) and 34 penalty minutes.

The defenseman from Surrey, BC played his DUB career with the Silvertips where he had 124 points (30G-94A) in 240 games.

Smilanic’s rights traded to Montreal

The Regina Pats’ 2017 WHL Bantam Draft third-rounder Ty Smilanic had his NHL rights traded by the Florida Panthers to the Montreal Canadiens. The 2002-born forward from Denver never reported to the Pats and is currently in his second season with Quinnipiac University in NCAA where he has 22 points (13G-9A) in 38 games.
