ICE issue statement on Lambos

Winnipeg ICE defenceman Carson Lambos returned to Winnipeg for a medical procedure and it is unknown how much time he will miss at this time. He is expected to make a full recovery. Lambos had played just two games with the ICE this season. He is eligible for the 2021 NHL Draft.

Rebels update Grubbe injury situation

Red Deer Rebels captain Jayden Grubbe has been sidelined by an ACL injury and is scheduled to undergo surgery. He will miss the remainder of the 2020-21 season after appearing in just five games this season. He had one goal and two assists. Grubbe is eligible for the 2021 NHL Draft.

Comrie called up to Jets taxi squad

Goaltender Eric Comrie (168GP, 85-64-15, 2.67GAA, .916sv% with Tri-City ’10-’15) has been reassigned by the Winnipeg Jets to their taxi squad from the Manitoba Moose. Comrie appeared in one game for the Moose scoring a win in which he allowed two goals on 21 shots. He also played a game with the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, a game in which he allowed three goals on 33 shots and took the win.

Wolf Pack coaching staff serve behind Rangers bench

Hartford Wolf Pack Head Coach Kris Knoblauch was called upon to serve as a coach for the New York Rangers due to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol that saw the entire Rangers coaching staff become unavailable for the game last night. Knoblauch was previously an assistant coach with the Prince Albert Raiders (’06-’07) and Kootenay ICE (’07-’10). He then became the head coach of the ICE for the 2010-11 & 2011-12 seasons. Knoblauch also played parts of four seasons with the Red Deer Rebels, Edmonton/Kootenay ICE and Lethbridge Hurricanes (213GP, 56G, 69A ’95-’99)

Silvertips return to KRKO1380

For the 16th season, Silvertips hockey returns to KRKO 1380 AM / 95.3 FM. Mike Benton returns for his sixth season as the play-by-play voice of the Silvertips and will have the call on all 24 games this season. Justin Morrison will join the broadcast throughout the schedule, this being his fifth season as colour commentator. There will be a 30-minute pre-game show before every game this season.

Smith needs living kidney donor

46-year-old Ryan Smith (274GP, 27G, 131A with Brandon, Lethbridge, and Prince George ’91-’95) needs a living kidney donor. The former WHLer has come close in recent years to receive a kidney but unfortunate circumstances prevented it from occurring. Smith now lives in the North Okanagan region of BC. Smith has been assessed for transplant at Vancouver’s St. Paul’s Hospital.
