Four weekend WHL games have been postponed for this weekend. Four teams have been affected in this round of postponements. The weekend home and home series between the Regina Pats and Saskatoon Blades as well as a pair of contests between the Victoria Royals and Cougars in Prince George.
They join the Edmonton Oil Kings, Moose Jaw Warriors, and Red Deer Rebels in having things paused through the weekend.

The Brandon Wheat Kings announced the signing of 22nd overall pick Caleb Hadland. The last of three first-round 2021 WHL Prospects Draft picks the Wheat Kings drafted and now signed.
The Sylvain Lake, AB product is currently playing for the Yale Hockey Academy. Through 18 games for the Prep team, the forward has 12 goals and five assists for 17 points.
Hadland joins his fellow first-round draft picks Charlie Elick (3rd overall) and Roger McQueen (4th overall) in signing with the Wheat Kings.
Rockets and Hitmen deal
The Calgary Hitmen and Kelowna Rockets swung a deal Wednesday, exchanging forwards.
The Hitmen acquired Steel Quiring in exchange for Adam Kydd and a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects draft.

In Quiring, the Hitmen get a 6’2″ 188 lb. right-winger that has had a solid 2021-22 season. In 25 games with the Rockets, the 18-year-old has six goals and nine assists for 15 points.

Kydd, a Regina, SK product – originally a list player – has four goals and 15 assists for 19 points in 30 games during the 2021-22 season.
Peach named player of the Month
He matched his sweater number with 29 points, factoring in on 60 percent of the @victoriaroyals goals this past month.

One day after being named player of the week, Bailey Peach was named WHL Player of the Month for December.
The overage forward collected a whopping 29 points in December, scoring 14 times and assisting on 15 others. Peach had 11 multi-point games in 12 Royals contests helping the club to a 9-2-1-0 record for the month. With points on 29 of 48 Victoria goals, Peach accounted for 60.4% of the team’s offense.
Ungar named Goalie of the Month
He posted a perfect 5-0-0-0 record in December, and sits third among WHL netminders in both GAA (2.06) and SV% (.925).

Red Deer Rebel goaltender Connor Ungar was named the WHL Goaltender of the Month for December. The 19-year-old went 5-0-0-0 in December and posted a 1.55 goals against average to go with a .944 save percentage and one shutout.
The Calgary, AB product has played 30 games in his four seasons in the WHL split between the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Rebels. He has compiled a 17-6-2-0 record to go with a 2.40 GAA and .917 SV%.

The Cape Breton Eagles signed import forward Peter Repcik. The 17-year-old forward was the Lethbridge Hurricanes second-round pick in the 2021 CHL Import Draft.
The Kosice, Slovakia product opened the season with the Hurricanes picking up a pair of assists in 25 games for the Central Division club. He was waived on December 29th when the Hurricanes acquired Liekit Reichle via waivers.

Nikita Malukhin (Seattle, 2017-18) was released after playing just three games with SK Sokil Kyiv of the Ukrainian Hockey Super League. You can read about the release here.
The Kazan, Russia product played for the Seattle Thunderbirds during the 2017-18 season. In his lone WHL season, he played in 52 games collecting nine points (5 goals, 4 assists).

Jake Christiansen (Everett, 2015-20) was recalled from the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL to join the Columbus Blue Jackets taxi squad.
The West Vancouver, BC product has played in 21 AHL games for the Monsters this season picking up 18 points on five goals and 13 assists.
In his five-year WHL career, all spent with the Silvertips, Christiansen played in 297 games, He averaged just over 1/2 point per game managing 152 points (50 goals, 102 assists).
Lind assigned to the Checkers

The Seattle Kraken has reassigned Kole Lind (Kelowna, 2014-18) to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. So far in the 2021-22 season, Lind has suited up in both the NHL and AHL. With Seattle, he has one assist in four games. With the Checkers, he has 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 23 games.
The Shaunavon, SK product played his entire WHL career with the Kelowna Rockets where he put up 224 points (83 goals, 141 assists) in 204 games.

The San Jose Barracuda have recalled Kyle Topping (Kelowna, 2016-20) from the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. The Ganges, BC forward has skated for both clubs this season. He has appeared in eight contests with the Barracuda picking up a pair of helpers. With the Solar Bears, he has played in 10 games collecting 12 points (two goals, 10 assists)
Topping played his entire four-year career with the Kelowna Rockets he played in 226 games garnering 196 points (71 goals, 125 assists).
Cutler signs a PTO with Abbotsford

Brandon Cutler (Red Deer and Victoria, 2016-21) has signed a professional tryout with the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL. The 6’2″, 200 lb. forward graduated from the Victoria Royals at the end of the 2020-21 season. He started this season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL where he has notched 27 points in 23 games (10 goals, 17 assists).
In his WHL career, Cutler split his time between Red Deer and Victoria where he skated in 258 games. He picked up 106 points (47 goals, 59 assists) over his five seasons in the ‘Dub.
