Saturday’s Prince Albert Raiders vs. Brandon Wheat Kings game has been postponed as the Raiders are unable to field a competitive team due to injuries and COVID-19 Protocols.

Blazers dominate Royals 6-1

The Kamloops Blazers won their fourth straight contest with a 6-1 win over the visiting Victoria Royals before 2,808 at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops. The Blazers outshot the Royals by 39 shots by the tune of 50-11.

Luke Toporowski scored twice (20th and 21st) and Logan Stankoven had three points (1G-2A, 19th of the season) to lead the way for the Blazers. Daylan Kuefler (18th), Fraser Minten (11th), and Reese Belton (eighth) rounded out the scoring for the Blazers in the win. Keanu Derungs replied for the Royals who lost their 10th in a row (0-9-0-1).

Dylan Garand only needed to make 10 saves in his 21st win of the season as the Blazers moved to 26-11-1-0 on the season. Campbell Arnold got the start in goal for the Royals before being pulled 5:07 into the first after allowing three goals on eight shots. Tyler Palmer stopped 39 of 42 shots in 54:53 of relief. Winterhawks continue hot streak in 4-1 win over the Cougars

The Portland Winterhawks continued on their recent tear picking up yet another win in a 4-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars. The Winterhawks now have points in their last 12 games going 11-0-0-1. 3,366 fans at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

Taylor Gauthier made 26 saves and continues to be undefeated with the Winterhawks after picking up his sixth win since being acquired from the Cougars. Four different Winterhawks found the back of the net and outshot the Cougars 47-27 in the win.

Riley Heidt opened the scoring for the Cougars in the first period before the Winterhawks scored four unanswered goals. Aidan Litke (11th), Clay Hanus (ninth), Luke Schelter (fifth), and Jack O’Brien (seventh) were the Hawks goal scorers.

Tyler Brennan stopped 43 of 47 shots directed his way in the Cougar loss. The boxscore.

Davidson scores four as Thunderbirds dominate Chiefs 7-0

Jared Davidson scored four times (17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th) as the Seattle Thunderbirds beat the hometown Spokane Chiefs 7-0 before 3,710 spectators. Scott Ratzlaff made 19 saves to collect his first career WHL shutout.

Conner Roulette (15th), Henrik Rybinski (12th), and Lucas Ciona (ninth) also scored for the Thunderbirds who went 4-for-5 on the powerplay in the win. Lukas Svejkovsky and Reid Schaefer each notched a trio of helpers. The Chiefs went 0-for-5 on the powerplay and have gone pointless in their last seven (0-6-1-0).

Manny Panghli stopped 22 of 29 Thunderbirds shots in the loss. The boxscore.

Silvertips blank Americans 3-0

Braden Holt made 22 saves for his third shutout of the season in a 3-0 Everett Silvertips win over the Tri-City Americans. 2,302 gathered at the Toyota Center to watch the US Division’s top-ranked Silvertips come out on top.

Jackson Berezowski (26th), Jacob Wright (14th), and Hunter Campbell (14th) each scored for the Silvertips who went 1-for-5 on the powerplay and outshot the Americans 39-22)

Americans’ netminder Tomas Suchanek stopped 36 shots in the loss. The boxscore.

Rockets shutout Giants 6-0

Talyn Boyko made 25 saves to pick up his first shutout as a Kelowna Rocket in a 6-0 win over the Vancouver Giants at the Langley Events Centre. 2,163 watched on as six different Rockets found the back of the net in the win.

Turner McMillen (sixth), Marcus Pacheco (second), Pavel Novak (17th), Adam Kydd (seventh), Mark Liwiski (11th), and Gabriel Szturc (seventh) were the Rockets scorers who went 1-for-3 on the powerplay with one shorthanded tally.

Jesper Vikman got the start for the Giants and faced made 15 saves on 19 shots through two periods before being pulled at the start of the third. Will Gurski stopped nine of 11 shots in relief. The boxscore.

Warriors keep hot in 5-4 shootout win against the ICE

Sixteen-year-old Brayden Yager scored twice (21st, 22nd) in regulation and picked up the shootout winner in a 5-4 win over the WHL leading Winnipeg ICE. 2,248 Mosaic Place faithful watched as the Warriors won their fifth-straight contest.

Robert Baco (ninth) and Ryder Korczak (15th) rounded out the scoring for the Warriors. Korczak also scored in the shootout for the Warriors. Tanner Brown (fourth), Jakin Smallwood (17th), Mikey Milne (24th), and Conor Geekie (12th) replied for the ICE in the loss.

Overage netminder Carl Tetachuk made 42 saves (and two in the shootout) to pick up his 18th win for the Warriors. Gage Alexander made 24 saves in the ICE net. The boxscore.

King scores 30th in 4-2 Rebels win over the Broncos

Four different players scored as the Red Deer Rebels beat the visiting Swift Current Broncos 4-2 before 2,588 spectators at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

Jayden Grubbe (eighth), Kalan Lind (eighth), Ben King (league-leading 30th), and Liam Keeler (17th) scored for the Rebels who held a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. Raphael Pelletier (12th) and Mathew Ward replied for the Broncos in the loss.

Chase Coward made 22 saves to pick up his 11th win for the Rebels. Isaac Poulter was strong in the Bronco net stopping 26 of 39 shots. The boxscore.

Hurricanes hold off Hitmen in 3-2 OT win

The Lethbridge Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead after the first period and staved off a Calgary Hitmen with a 3-2 OT win before 4,430 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Justin Hall opened the scoring and then scored in overtime, both shorthanded for the Hurricanes in the win (19th and 20th). Ty Nash scored his 11th to round out the scoring for the Canes. Zac Funk (12th) and Briggs Orr (first career) replied for the Hitmen.

Jared Picklyk made a career-high 37 stops in picking up his fifth win for the Hurricanes. Brayden Peters stopped 18 shots for the Hitmen. The boxscore.

DUB Firsts

Scott Ratzlaff stopped 19 shots in his first career shutout for the Thunderbirds. The sixteen-year-old Irma, AB native moved to 8-0-1-0 on the season for the T-Birds.

Orr snipes first for Hitmen

Sixteen-year-old defenseman Briggs Orr scored his first career goal in a 3-2 OT loss to the Hurricanes. Playing in just his third game, Orr also added his first career assist in the loss.

Johnson scores a highlight-reel goal for Wheat Kings

Martensville, SK product Trae Johnson notched his first career goal against. The 16-year-old left-winger scored a beauty for the Wheat Kings against Matthew Kieper of the Pats. Johnson was playing in his 36th game and now has four points (1G-3A).

DUB Alumni

Vause extends with EC Bad Nauheim

Taylor Vause (Swift Current 2007-12) signed a two-year extension with EC Bad Nauheim of the German DEL2. Vause is in his first season with the club and has put up 39 points (13G-26A) in 33 games.

Vause had a really solid DUB career, all spent with the Broncos played 273 games where he had 190 points (79G-111A) and was the team captain in his final season in the DUB.

5 DUB Alumni named to Team China Men’s Olympic Squad

Five DUB alumni were named to Team China for the Olympics starting in February. Jason Fram (Spokane 2011-16), Ty Schultz (Medicine Hat 2014-17), Zach Yuen (Tri-City 2008-13), Luke Lockhart (Seattle 2007-13), and Tyler Wong (Lethbridge 2011-17) all received a call to represent China. All five of the representatives play for Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League.

Fram is in his third season with Kunlun where he has skated in 48 games this season registering 14 points (4G-10A). A five-year DUB defenseman from Vancouver played his 308 game career with the Chiefs where he had 187 points (32G-155A)

Schultz is playing in his first season with Kunlun where he has two points (1G-1A) in 21 games so far. The New Westminster, BC native played three seasons in the DUB, all with the Tigers where he collected 50 points (8G-42A) in 186 games.

Yuen has spent parts of four seasons with the Red Star, this season he has two assists in 29 games. A defenseman from Vancouver played 255 career games in the DUB, all with the Americans where he accumulated 118 points (30G-88A).

Lockhart is in his fifth season with Kunlun where he has played 48 games thus far this season where he has accumulated 16 points (7G-9A). The forward from Burnaby, BC played his entire DUB career with the Thunderbirds where he skated in 345 games collecting 165 points (75G-90A).

Another veteran of Kunlun, Wong is in his third season with the Red Star. This season he has 28 points (14G-14A) in 48 games. Wong, a veteran of 317 DUB games, all with the Hurricanes, the right-winger from Cochrane, AB scored 143 goals and added 155 assists for 298 points.

Sceviour placed on waivers by the Oilers

32-year-old Colton Sceviour (Portland, Lethbridge 2004-09) was placed on waivers by the Oilers on Friday. The forward from Red Deer, AB has five points (2G-3A) in 30 games with the Oilers this year. Sceviour has 156 points (66G-90A) in 530 NHL games over 11 seasons (Dallas, Florida, Pittsburgh, Edmonton).

Sceviour started his 251 game DUB career with the Winterhawks before playing his 121 games with the Hurricanes. All together he accumulated 78 goals and 114 assists for 192 points.
