Cougars sign fourth-round 2019 WHL Draft pick

The Prince George Cougars announced yesterday that they have signed their fourth-round pick from the 2019 WHL Draft, Carter MacAdams. MacAdams has been playing for Delta Hockey Academy and was able to get into four games this season, registering two assists.

Rattie signs with Porin Assat of Liiga

Ty Rattie (269GP, 151G, 197A with Portland ’08-’13) has been signed by Porin Assat of Liiga in Finland. Rattie is coming off a season in the KHL split between Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (16GP, 3G, 6A) and Topedo Nizhny Novgorod (36GP, 8G, 17A). The St. Louis Blues selected Rattie in the second round of the 2011 NHL Draft, and he played 98 NHL games over six seasons. Rattie was a member of the 2012-13 WHL Champion Winterhawks.

Polei loaned to Cleveland Monsters

Evan Polei (242GP, 72G, 59A with Saskatoon and Red Deer ’13-’17) has been loaned to the Cleveland Monsters by the St. Louis Blues. Last season with the San Antonio Rampage Polei scored one goal and added three assists in 21 games.

Brooks signs with Jacksonville Icemen

Calder Brooks (194GP, 48G, 76A with Calgary, Prince Albert, and Spokane ’11-’15) has signed with the Jacksonville Icemen (ECHL). It will be Brooks’ second stint in the ECHL, having played three games for the Wichita Thunder in 2018-19. Last season Brooks played for three teams, SC Riessersee, Germany3 (10GP, 5G,3A) Briancon, Ligue Magnus (12GP, 6G, 7A), and Angers, Ligue Magnus (4GP, 1G, 1A).

McAuley returns to Allen Americans

Colby McAuley (191GP, 44G, 52A with Prince George ’14-’17) has signed for a second stint with the Allen Americans (ECHL). McAuley played 34 games in 2017-18 with the Americans, registering eight goals and 12 assists. McAuley has also played for the Orlando Solar Bears and the Idaho Steelheads.

Former Hurricane Plume passes away

Clay Plume (181GP, 22G, 43A with Lethbridge and Prince George ’01-04) was found deceased at his home on Thursday. Plume played eight professional and semi-professional seasons in the ECHL and CHL. In 2010-11, Plume won a championship with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the CHL. As recently as 2019-20, Plume was playing in the Ranchlands Hockey League with the Fort MacLeod Mustangs. Our condolences go out to Plume’s family, friends, and those who knew him in the hockey world.

Byram makes NHL Debut

Bowen Byram (188GP, 46G, 104A with Vancouver) made his NHL debut on Thursday night as the Colorado Avalanche took on the Anaheim Ducks. The fourth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Byram had one shot on goal, his +/- was zero and he had a penalty early in the first period.

Myhres writes book

Brantt Myhres (241GP, 39G, 98A with Portland, Lethbridge, and Spokane) has written a book, ‘Pain Killer’ is “a harrowing tale of addiction, and an astonishing path to recovery” from the only player to ever be banned for life from the National Hockey League. The book is available for pre-order and will be released on February 16th, 2021.
