Winterhawks clinch playoff spot

The Portland Winterhawks punched their ticket to the 2022 postseason with a 5-3 win over the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night. They are the third team to do so, all three are from the Western Conference.

Thunderbirds return to Seattle for Battle of the Sound

The Seattle Thunderbirds played their first game back at the Seattle Center since the end of the 2008-09 season. Now renovated and rebranded the Climate Pledge Arena, the T-Birds hosted the Everett Silvertips on Saturday night. The Silvertips won the contest 4-0.

Leschyshyn returned to Henderson

Two days after his recall by the Vegas Golden Knights, Jake Leschyshyn (Regina, Lethbridge 2014-19) was returned to the Henderson Silver Knights. He has spent time with both clubs this season where he has played 20 games with Vegas where he has four points (1G-3A). With Henderson, he has played 31 games and has 24 points (12G-12A).

The five-year DUB forward played 257 games (mostly with the Pats) where he collected 180 points (85G-95A).

Nielsen signs tryout with Tucson

Andrew Nielsen (Lethbridge 2013-16) has signed a professional tryout with the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL. With the ECHL’s Grizzlies, the 25-year-old has played 36 games where he has 27 points (8G-19A). He suited up for a game with Tucson where he picked up a minor penalty.

The Red Deer product played his entire 131 game DUB career with the Hurricanes where the defenseman put up 94 points (25G-69A).
