Wheat Kings Clinch

The Brandon Wheat Kings became the latest team to punch their ticket to the DUB post season after posting a 4-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday night. They are the fifth Eastern Conference team to guarantee their spot in the dance.

King named DUB Player of the Month

Vernon, BC product Ben King was named DUB Player of the Week after registering 23 points (6G-17A) in 11 March contests. His 95 points (47G-48A) going into April put him in second place in league scoring, trailing teammate Arshdeep Bains who has 97 points.

The former first-round pick, 13th overall by the Swift Current Broncos looks to become the first Rebel player to score 50 goals in a season since Kyle Wanvig connected with 55 in 2000-01.

Hauser named DUB Netminder of the Month

2004-born Daniel Hauser was named DUB Goaltender of the Week after going a perfect 11-0-0-0 in March with a 1.58 goals-against average, .923 save percentage, and four shutouts for the ICE who went 13-0-1-1 in that stretch.

The Chestermere, AB product went into April with a league-leading 2.03 GAA and a 29-2-1-0 record. He continued on his hot streak picking up his eighth shutout on Friday against the host Regina Pats giving him a 30-2-1-0 record and dropping his goals-against average to a minuscule 1.97 with a .915 save percentage.

In his 43 game DUB career, he has a 37-2-2-0 record with a 2.18 GAA and .911 SV%.

Woo nets first DUB marker

15-year-old defenseman Jonas Woo scored his first career DUB goal on Friday night in a 7-0 Winnipeg ICE win over the Regina Pats. The Winnipeg product was playing in his 11th game with the ICE.

With the AAA U18 Winnipeg Bruins he played in 37 games where he collected 28 points (6G-22A). Woo was the 18th overall pick in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

Gavin scores first DUB goal for Americans

Another 15-year-old notched their first DUB goal on Friday night, Jordan Gavin notched his marker in his sixth game with the Tri-City Americans in a 6-4 loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds.

In 28 games with the Delta Hockey Academy U17 Prep Team he collected 105 points (48G-57A) and with the Delta Hockey Academy U18 Prep Team he played two games, picking up five games (3G-2A). He was the 2nd overall pick in the 2021 WHL Prospects draft by the Americans.

Rebman makes DUB debut for Blades

Prince George, BC product Smyth Rebman made his DUB debut with the Saskatoon Bananas in a 4-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday night.

The 2006-born forward played 35 games with Rink Hockey Academy U18 (Kelowna) where he collected 43 points (19-24). He was the 62nd overall pick by the Blades in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

Sogaard makes first NHL start for Senators, wins

21-year-old Mads Sogaard (Medicine Hat 2018-20) made his first career NHL start on Friday night for the Ottawa Senators after being recalled from Belleville on March 27. The 6-foot-7 netminder stopped 27 of 29 shots in a 5-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

The Denmark-born goaltender played his DUB career with the Tigers, where he suited up for 74 games with the orange and black, going 41-21-6 with a 2.58 GAA, .915 SV%, and seven shutouts.

Patera reassigned to Silver Knights

Jiri Patera (Brandon 2018-20) was reassigned to the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL by the Vegas Golden Knights. He has split his time with Henderson and the Fort Wayne Komets (ECHL) in 2021-22. With Henderson, he has played in 16 games where he is 7-9-0 with a 2.86 GAA and .903 save percentage. With Fort Wayne, the Praha, CZ product has played in 15 games going 7-5-3 with a 2.77 GAA and .906 SV%. He has yeat to see action with Vegas.

In his two DUB seasons, both with the Wheat Kings, Patera got into 89 games going 46-32-9 with a 2.95 GAA, .913 SV%, and six shutouts.

Byram loaned to Eagles for conditioning stint

20-year-old defenseman Bowen Byram (Vancouver 2016-20) was reassigned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) by the Avalanche after he finished his recovery from injury. The Cranbrook, BC product had 11 points (5G-6A) in 18 games prior to his injury.

The fourth overall pick by the Avalanche in 2019 played 188 DUB games – all with the Giants – where the offensively gifted d-man had 150 points (46G-104A).

Anderson-Dolan back with Kings

In the same tweet, Jaret Anderson-Dolan (Spokane 2014-19) was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings from their AHL affiliate Ontario Reign on an emergency recall. The 22-year-old forward has skated in seven games with the Kings this season and has been held off the scoresheet. With the Reign, he has 41 points (22G-19A) in 45 games.

The Calgary product spent his entire 244 game DUB career with the Chiefs collecting 236 points (113G-123A).

Knyzhov extends with Sharks

Nikolai Knyzhov (Regina 2015-16) has signed a one-year extension with the San Jose Sharks where he was the club’s Rookie of the Year in 2020-21. The Russian defenseman has yet to play in the 2021-22 season.

Knyzhov was the Pats first-round pick, 41st overall in the 2015 CHL Import Draft. He played 19 DUB games for the Queen City Kids where he collected one assist.

Harsch released by Abbotsford

Reece Harsch (Seattle, Saskatoon, Winnipeg 2015-20) was released from his professional tryout with the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL. The 23-year-old defenseman played five games with Abbotsford where he was held off the scoresheet. he had started the season playing at the University of Manitoba where he had 12 points (2G-10A) in 14 games.

Not known as an offensive defenseman, the Grande Prairie, AB product collected 83 points (20G-63A) in 240 league games.
