Ripplinger named General Manager of the Moose Jaw Warriors

The Moose Jaw Warriors promoted assistant general manager Jason Ripplinger to the role of general manager on Thursday. Ripplinger, 45, had been the assistant general manager to the soon-to-depart Alan Millar since 2018, at which time he had joined the Warriors after a successful 10-year stint as Director of Player Personnel with the Vancouver Giants. Four Czech WHL drafted players named to U18 World Junior camp roster

There are four players from the WHL that were selected in the 2020 CHL Import draft on the training camp roster for the Czech Republic’s bid at the U18 World Championships. All four are 2003-born.

  • Moose Jaw Warriors (6th overall) forward Martin Rysavy
  • Tri-City Americans (9th overall) goaltender Tomas Suchanek
  • Regina Pats (15th overall) defenseman Stanislav Svozil
  • Spokane Chiefs (54th overall) defenseman David Jiricek

The team has 10 days to cut the roster by three players.

Connolly traded to the Blackhawks

Forward Brett Connolly (144GP, 86G, 66A with Prince George ’07-’11) has been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks from the Florida Panthers as part of a multi-player, multi-draft pick deal. Originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft, Connolly be joining his fifth NHL team in 10 seasons. Through 517 NHL games, Connolly has 100 goals and 92 assists.

Benn hits 400 NHL assists

Forward Jamie Benn (107GP, 79G, 68A with Kelowna ’07-’09) has hit the 400 career NHL assists milestone. Benn’s 400th assist came at 9:19 of the first period as the Dallas Stars defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-1. Benn later added another assist. The Stars drafted Benn in the fifth round of the 2007 NHL Draft. Benn won the Ed Chynoweth Cup with the Rockets in 2008-09.

Winkler resigned by HC Innsbruck

Forward Dario Winkler (59GP, 7G, 5A with Brandon and Everett ’15-’16) has signed a contract extension with HC Innsbruck of ICEHL. This season with HC Innsbruck, Winkler scored three goals and added 12 assists in 48 games. Winkler was a second-round 2015 CHL Import Draft pick of the Wheat Kings.

Knackstedt extended by Dresdner Eislowen

Forward Jordan Knackstedt (268GP, 67G, 117A with Red Deer and Moose Jaw ’05-’08) has been signed to a contract extension by the Dresden Eislowen of the DEL2. It will be his fourth season with the team following a season in which he was named captain. Knackstedt scored 23 goals and added 28 assists in 43 games this season. Was a 2007 seventh-round draft choice of the Boston Bruins

De Leo recalled to Anaheim’s taxi squad

Forward Chase De Leo (279GP, 110G, 141A with Portland ’11-’15) has been recalled by the Anaheim Ducks to their taxi squad from the San Diego Gulls. De Leo has played 22 games with the Gulls this season and was named an assistant captain. He has nine goals and 10 assists. De Leo is a former fourth-round 2014 NHL Draft pick of the Winnipeg Jets.

Pederson reassigned to the Coyotes taxi squad

The Arizona Coyotes have assigned forward Lane Pederson (199GP, 53G, 87A with Seattle, Red Deer, and Swift Current ’13-’17) to the taxi squad. Pederson has played three NHL games and has one goal. Pederson has appeared in 16 games with the Coyotes AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners. He has seven goals and 10 assists in 16 games. Pederson was a free agent signing of the Coyotes on October 13, 2016, and is on his second contract with the team, signed on August 15, 2020.

Davidson reassigned to Sabres taxi squad

Defenseman Brandon Davidson (200GP, 22G, 112A with Regina ’09-’12) has been reassigned from the Rochester Americans to the Buffalo Sabres taxi squad. Davidson has played six NHL games this season with the Sabres, remaining without a point. He has also played two games with the Americans. Davidson was a sixth-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2010.

Tokarski up to Sabres on an emergency loan

Goaltender Dustin Tokarski (129GP, 77-39-7, 2.18GAA, .925sv% with Spokane ’06-’09) is an emergency loan to the Sabres main roster. Tokarski is 0-3-1 with the Sabres and has a 3.79 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. The former fifth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2008, has played two games this season with the Sabres AHL affiliate, Rochester Americans. Tokarski is 1-1-0 on the season with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage. Tokarski was an Ed Chynoweth Cup and Memorial Cup Champion with the 2007-08 Spokane Chiefs.

Bean recalled to Hurricanes main roster

Defenseman Jake Bean (219GP, 49G, 147A with Calgary and Tri-City ’14-’18) has been reassigned to the Carolina Hurricanes taxi squad from the main roster. In 28 games with the Hurricanes this season, Bean has one goal and 10 assists. Bean is a former first-round NHL Draft pick of the Hurricanes.

Burroughs reassigned to Avalanche’s taxi squad

Defenseman Kyle Burroughs (250GP, 22G, 98A with Regina ’10-’15) has been reassigned to the Colorado Avalanche’s taxi squad after an emergency loan. Burroughs has played two NHL games and has collected an assist. In eight games with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles, Burroughs has one assist. Burroughs is a seventh-round pick of the New York Islanders from the 2013 NHL Draft.

Forward Michael Rasmussen (161GP, 81G, 76A with Tri-City ’14-’18) has been recalled by the Detroit Red Wings from their taxi squad. Rasmussen, a 2017 first-round pick of the Red Wings, has played 25 games with the NHL club, scoring two goals and adding five assists. Rasmussen has also played seven games with the team’s AHL affiliate, Grand Rapids Griffins, and has two goals and four assists.

Defenseman Dennis Cholowski (69GP, 14G, 52A with Prince George and Portland ’17-’18) has been reassigned from the Detroit Red Wings taxi squad to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Cholowski, a 2016 first-round pick of the Red Wings, has played two games with the Wings this season and has yet to register a point. With the Griffins, Cholowski has played 13 games and has three goals and seven assists.

Wagner reassigned to Kings taxi squad

Forward Austin Wagner (238GP, 79G, 90A with Regina ’12-’17)  has been reassigned by the LA Kings from their main roster to the taxi squad. In 30 games with the Kings this season, Wagner has three goals and four assists. He was a fourth-round NHL draft pick of the Kings in 2015.

Lewington recalled from Predators taxi squad

Defenseman Tyler Lewington (250GP, 18G, 94A with Medicine Hat ’11-’15) has been recalled from the Nashville Predators taxi squad to the main roster. Lewington has yet to play a game with the Predators this season but has played three games with the Chicago Wolves. He has yet to hit the score sheet. Lewington was drafted in the seventh round of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals.

Coburn reassigned to Senators taxi squad

Defenseman Braydon Coburn (238GP, 29G, 102A with Portland ’00-’05) has been reassigned to the Ottawa Senators taxi squad from the main roster. This season with the Senators, Coburn has played in 16 games, collecting two assists. Coburn is a former first-round NHL Draft pick of the Atlanta Thrashers. In 980 NHL games with four teams, Coburn has 49 goals and 185 assists.
