The Medicine Hat Tigers have announced the signing of 2019 2nd-round pick Cayden Glover. Glover joins first-round pick Oasiz Weisblatt as the second prospect from the Tigers’ 2019 draft class to sign with the organization. Glover played 36 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings Bantam AAA and scored an impressive 47 goals and added 19 assists.

The Charlotte Checkers have advanced to the AHL’s Calder Cup Final thanks to a double overtime winner from Tri-City Americans alumni Morgan Geekie. Geekie is in his first pro season with the Checkers and played 73 games scoring 19 goals and 27 assists. In 14 playoff games, he has seven goals and eight assists. He played 216 games in the WHL with the Americans and had 78 goals and 124 assists.

WHL alumni Toni Rajala (60 GP, 26 G, 37 A with the Brandon Wheat Kings) and Henri Jokiharju (134 GP, 21 G, 98 A with the Portland Winterhawks) won gold with Team Finland as they defeated Team Canada 3-1 at the 2019 IIHF World Championship.

Wheat Kings’ alumni Mark Stone (232 GP, 106 G, 190 A in the WHL) was named tournament MVP. In 10 games with Team Canada at the tournament, Stone had eight goals and six assists.

WHL referee Chris Crich and Linesman Tarrington Wyonzek were part of the officiating team for the 2019 Memorial Cup final which took place on Sunday. The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 4-2 to claim the Memorial Cup. The Huskies went down 2-0 partway through the second period but rebounded with four unanswered goals for the victory.
