Thunderbirds acquire Patterson from Silvertips

With Jake Christiansen back in the WHL, the Everett Silvertips were forced to move out one of their overage players and did not waste any time in doing so shipping Max Patterson to division rival Seattle for a fourth-round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft. In his fifth season in the WHL, Patterson has put up three goals and nine assists in 24 games with the Silvertips this season.

Baragano headed to Switzerland selection camp

Kamloops Blazers defenseman Inaki Baragano has been selected to attend Switzerland’s selection camp ahead of the 2020 World Junior Hockey Championship. He should be a lock for the team as he’s already played three games for Switzerland’s U-20 team.

Knak invited to Switzerland selection camp

Portland Winterhawks forward Simon Knak has officially been invited to Switzerland’s selection camp ahead of the 2020 World Junior Hockey Championship. He will depart for Switzerland’s camp after the Winterhawks play the Prince George Cougars on Sunday. He has represented Switzerland at the U-16, U-17 and U-18 level so will no doubt receive strong consideration for this tournament.

Watts returns to Raiders lineup

After a scary injury back on November 30th when Brayden Watts fell awkwardly on his leg, Watts was back in the Raiders lineup on Friday night.

Crocker recalled by Raiders

With Watts’ status up in the air prior to the game, the Prince Albert Raiders recalled Niall Crocker from the Delta Hockey Academy as an insurance policy. The 2004-born forward has played one game this season with Delta.

Cougars recall Dowhaniuk and Ziemmer 

The Prince George Cougars have recalled Keaton Dowhaniuk and Koehn Ziemmer from their respective club teams for this weekend’s series with the Portland Winterhawks. Dowhaniuk is playing midget prep with OHA Edmonton in the CSSHL where he has three goals and nine assists in 18 games while Ziemmer has been playing for the AMHL’s St. Albert Raiders recording 10 goals and six assists in 15 games. Dowhaniuk and Ziemmer will be reunited on the same team once again after being teammates at OHA Edmonton last season.

Yogi Svejkovsky removed from Giants website

As his son Lukas Svejkovsky awaits a trade from the Vancouver Giants, longtime Giants skills coach Yogi Svejkovsky has been removed from the Giants media notes and team website suggesting he is no longer with the organization although the team has not officially confirmed his departure.

Witala signs in Germany 

Chase Witala (302 GP, 120 G, 119 A with the Prince George Cougars from 2010-16) has signed with Crocodiles Hamburg in Germany for the rest of the year. Witala started the year with the ECHL’s Jacksonville IceMen where he had a goal in three games.

Grimwood resigns from Stampeders

Former Victoria Royals head coach Geoff Grimwood has resigned his position as head coach and general manager of the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders. Grimwood was in his first season with the Stampeders and the team had posted a 17-10-2 record with the under his regime.
