Zabransky named captain of Team Czech Republic

Moose Jaw Warriors defenseman Libor Zabransky has been named captain fo the Czech Republic National Junior team for the 2020 World Juniors which the Czech Republic is hosting. Zabransky is in his third year in the WHL and this is his fifth season representing the Czech Republic on the international stage.

Smith gets an ‘A’ on Team Canada

Spokane Chiefs defenseman Ty Smith has been given an ‘A’ as part of Canada’s leadership group for the 2020 World Juniors in the Czech Republic. Smith has represented Canada at the U17, U18 and U20 levels internationally. He is one of five players returning to the team from last year’s disappointing finish in Vancouver.

Fazleyev traded in KHL

Radel Fazleyev (168 GP, 42 G, 105 A with the Calgary Hitmen from 2013-16) has been traded to Ak Bars Kazan in the KHL from Neftekhimik Nishnekamsk for monetary compensation. The former sixth-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2014 was immediately assigned to Bars Kazan in the Vysshaya Liga. In two games with Bars Kazan, he has a goal and three assists.

Delnov signs in Russia

Alexander Delnov (140 GP, 49 G, 63 A with the Seattle Thunderbirds from 2012-14) has signed with Tambov in the Vysshaya Liga for the rest of this season. The 2012 fourth-round pick of the Florida Panthers was released by KHL club Admiral Vladivostok after going pointless in five games.

Ross added to Spengler Cup Roster

Nick Ross (288 GP, 33 G, 112 A with the Regina Pats, Kamloops Blazers and Vancouver Giants from 2004-09) has been added to Team Canada’s Spengler Cup roster which kicked off today. Drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Ross has tallied five goals and 21 assists in 28 games with DVTK Jegesmedvek in Slovakia.
