Daily Dose of the Dub: Malm refuses to Americans, Chiefs acquire Porter from Warriors, Raiders acquire Karki from Silvertips and more

Malm refuses to report to Americans

After being acquired by Tri-City in a trade with the Calgary Hitmen, James Malm has decided not to report to the Americans. As a result of that decision, the WHL has suspended Malm from playing in the league. In 21 games this season with Calgary, Malm recorded three goals and 14 assists. Calgary and Tri-City have agreed to “additional compensation” in the trade which saw Kyle Olson head to Calgary for Malm, a 2020 second-round pick (Tri-City’s own) and a conditional fourth in 2022 that could become a second based on conditions. Neither team is commenting on what the additional compensation looks like.

Chiefs acquire Porter from Warriors

With Campbell Arnold shut down for the season, the Spokane Chiefs went out and acquired James Porter from the Moose Jaw Warriors for an eighth-round pick in 2021. Porter wasted no time getting to Spokane as he was on the bench to start Friday’s game against the Portland Winterhawks before he was called into action to start the second period. Porter would make 15 saves on 17 shots in a 6-4 loss in his first game action since the Tiebreak game against Kamloops last season when he was a member of the Kelowna Rockets.

Raiders acquire Karki from Silvertips

The Prince Albert Raiders acquired goaltender Keegan Karki from the Everett Silvertips for a fourth-round pick in this year’s bantam draft. The rookie netminder has played 14 games this season posting an 8-1-1-1 record with a 3.19 GAA and 0.897 save percentage.
