Panthers trim training camp roster

The Florida Panthers have made some cuts to their training camp roster. Of note for WHL fans, Seattle Thunderbirds forward Matthew Wedman is off to Springfield Thunderbirds camp in the AHL while Seattle forward Henrik Rybinski and Portland Winterhawks defenseman John Ludvig are both returning to the WHL.

Maple Leafs send two WHLers back to junior, two to AHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs have sent defenseman Filip Kral back to the Spokane Chiefs and Riley Stotts back to the Calgary Hitmen while Prince Albert Raiders defenseman Sergei Sapego and Ian Scott headed to Toronto Marlies Training Camp.

With Kral headed back to the Chiefs, they will need to clear up their overage situation as forward Ethan McIndoe, Noah King, and goaltender Reece Klassen are already listed on the roster which puts them one above the CHL limit.  However, McIndoe is currently dealing with an injury that will keep him out until October according to The Spokesman-Review which could extend the deadline for the Chiefs to get below the limit, depending on when he returns to the lineup.

Rockets roster sits at 26 after round of cuts

The Kelowna Rockets have released 2003-born forward Steel Quiring and 2003-born defenseman Jackson DeSouza as well as 2002-born forward Cole Carrier from the active roster. Quiring and DeSouza who were both selected in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft will both report to the BCMML while Carrier is off to the AJHL’s Whitecourt Wolverines. He played eight games with the Rockets last season and had one assist.

ICE trim roster by two

The Winnipeg ICE have released 2003-born defenseman Karter Prosofsky and 2004-born goaltender Daniel Hauser from the active roster. Prosofoky will report to the RINK Hockey Academy in the CSSHL while Hauser is headed back to the Edge School after being called up as the ICE dealt with some injuries between the pipes.
