Edmonton Oil Kings forward David Kope has been suspended two games for a check from behind on Calgary Hitmen forward Riley Fiddler-Schultz. He served the first game of that suspension on Sunday when the Oil Kings took on the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Prince George Cougars forward Jackson Leppard missed Saturday’s game against the Victoria Royals with an injury. According to the team, it’s a lower-body injury and they expect him back in the lineup when the team returns to the ice at home against the Kelowna Rockets on Friday.
Weather conditions hamper WHL travel plans

Both the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Medicine Hat Tigers are electing to spend an extra night in Edmonton and Calgary respectively as the prairie province has been hit by snow causing havoc on Highway 1. The Tigers Fan Bus did not make the trip to Calgary because of the weather.
Milestones around the league on Sunday
It was a light night of action on Sunday but we should mention Edmonton Oil Kings forward Brendan Kuny made his WHL debut, Calgary Hitmen forward Adam Kydd scored his first two career goals, Winnipeg ICE goaltender Will Gurski recorded his first start and win and finally Medicine Hat Tigers forward Ryan Chyzowski suited up for his 200th career game in the WHL.

Making his debut for the University of Manitoba Bisons, Riley Lamb (88 GP with the Red Deer Rebels and Swift Current Broncos) posted a 26-save shutout as the Bisons beat the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 2-0.
Berlin also makes USports debut, also posts a shutout

Also making his debut in USports for the University of Alberta Golden Bears, Matt Berlin (57 GP with the Spokane Chiefs, Seattle Thunderbirds, and Kootenay ICE) made 20 saves as the Golden Bears shutout the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.
Three Stars of the Night:
First Star: Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Dylan Cozens had two goals and two assists as the Hurricanes downed the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-2.
Second Star: Calgary Hitmen goaltender Carl Stankowski made 33 saves as the Hitmen shutout the Medicine Hat Tigers 2-0.
Third Star: Rookie Adam Kydd notched his first two career goals, and that’s all it took for the Hitmen to beat the Tigers.
Honourable Mentions:
Winnipeg ICE forward Carson Lambos and Vancouver Giants forward Milos Roman each tallied two goals.
